Exercise for Kids at Home Often Overlooked Parents often associate kids and exercise with activities

outside of the home. In the summer, kids go swimming, join a sports team or visit a playground.

During the winter months there’s ice skating, sledding or interactive kids’ museums. But there are also plenty of ways to participate in exercise for kids at home.

What’s great about this is that home indoor exercises can be used year round. Just because it’s raining, you don’t have to sit in front of the television all day. Your kids can be active and stay healthy in the home, come rain or shine.

Exercise for Kids at Home Often Overlooked What Indoor Exercises Can Your Child Do?

The ages of your kids will determine which activities they will be interested in. It’s especially easy with younger kids. Our two- and three-year-old girls love for Mommy and Daddy to chase them around the house and pretend we’re the tickle monster.

Our girls also love practicing exercises with us, such as jumping jacks, push-ups and sit-ups. We even know older kids who enjoy these standard exercises, especially if done with their parents. (Here’s a tip: if you have an old exercise video, pull it out and go through a routine with your kids. You can sweat together and have fun at the same time.)

Exercise for Kids at Home Often Overlooked The key to making exercise at home successful is to

make it fun. There are plenty of great active games you can play with your kids no matter what their age. There are also games they can do alone if you aren’t available to participate. Our e-book, “Fun Exercises for Kids,” provides numerous indoor exercises for every age.

Exercise for Kids at Home Often Overlooked Sixty Minutes of Exercise for Kids at Home

According to the CDC, kids need 60 minutes of exercise every day. Well, that can be a little difficult if it’s 105 degrees outside and you’re afraid your child will fry like an egg if you step on the back porch. With a preplanned list of kids’ indoor exercises, though, you don’t have to worry about those days.

Your kids can do a different activity every day and have fun while they do it. Not to mention, they will be keeping their bodies healthy.

Exercise for Kids at Home Often Overlooked If you feel that your child still doesn’t get the proper

amount of exercise on days they stay at home, add some chores to their to-do list. It’s good for kids to learn responsibility around the house and they can also burn calories while sweeping, vacuuming and scrubbing bathtubs.

As a parent, your mindset should be that your kids don’t have to leave the home to be active. Exercise for kids at home is just as possible and just as beneficial as any other exercise.
