At Prime Oak we pride ourselves on an uncompromising level of service centered around a unique product designed and built to the most exacting standards.

Our oak frames are crafted with the same traditional mortise and tenon pegged joints used 300 years ago in buildings still standing today. Each frame is complemented by handsome bronze or chrome ironmongery to ensure its longevity and enduring beauty.

For a modern business organisation, our approach is also refreshingly old-fashioned. We are determined to deliver a personal service that promises open and honest communication and guaranteed customer satisfaction.

Please leaf through our latest portfolio at your leisure and, if you need advice or wish to take advantage of our free design service, call David Handley, my Commercial Director, on 01384 296611 or email: [email protected]

If you have any other queries or would value a second opinion on your choice, you can email me direct at [email protected].

Before making that final choice, we encourage all our clients to visit our extensive farmhouse, workshops, offices and boneyard at Whitehouse Farm. Only then will you truly understand the craftsmanship that goes into every oak frame and every piece of joinery.

“All vehicles benefit from garaging; a place to

shelter them from the worst of the weather.

Sometimes just for the care and maintenance

or maybe the loving restoration of cherished

automobiles.”

Garaging is seen as a necessary addition to the home. All too often it is unsympathetically incorporated into the design or hastily added as an afterthought with concern only for its practicalities rather than its aesthetics.

Whatever its purpose, todays garages serve a multitude of functions, at Prime Oak we believe the basic stability of an oak frame can match almost any requirement whilst adding an ageless beauty that blends in gracefully wherever it is placed.

“Complex roof lines create interesting courtyard

buildings with atmosphere.”

The Burford, Moreton and Woodstock range of Prime Oak garages can be handed or adapted to almost every purpose with additions of log stores or workspaces, closed or open.

They can be expanded to form swimming pool covers, music rooms, boathouses, stables, workshops or indeed almost anything you can imagine.

At Prime Oak we subscribe fully to the concept of sustainable forest management which, through careful and constant stewardship, safeguards the future of our forests to ensure a plentiful supply of oak timber for generations to come.

Combining the practicalities of a garage, workshop and barn, the compact style of the Burford lends itself to a lower, more discreet profile while the Woodstock rises above itself to create useful workspace. The Moreton distinguishes itself by its unlimited length and gable access.

Making the most efficient use of the available ground area, a home office can often be combined with other working elements such as a garage or workshop. It can provide an inspiring vista over the surrounding landscape, increase visibility over working yards or nearby pastures and at the same time create a feeling of separation from the distractions of a home.

Not only will a Prime Oak Home Office give you the satisfaction of reducing pollution, but also its use of sustainable materials from new oak groves and other managed woodlands will give you the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping the planet breathe more easily too. As no doubt will you, ensconced in an individual and elegant environment created by craftsmen and designed to endure.

“A stable building from Prime Oak is an asset that

will grow to become an excellent investment”

“Care, and not fine stables, makes a good horse” is a little known Danish proverb. But that duty of care, as most equestrian owners will agree, surely extends to the provision of a suitable environment that caters almost intuitively to the needs of its treasured occupants.

Prime Oak encourage a site visit in the first instance to help determine what size, layout and facilities best match the budget available in order to satisfy the needs of horses and their owners with a competitively-priced package.

Our oak-framed stables provide equine protection and shelter to exacting standards for both professional and domestic stabling. Our experience in this specialised area of design and build has allowed us to establish a number of key criteria that can often turn a disjointed building into a classic working stable, where practicality is infused with style and panache.

Prime Oak design and build stables with quality and materials that will outlast our temperate climate. The appearance blends sympathetically with its surroundings. Where attention to detail will delight its owner and exert a calming influence on its every occupant.

Balancing an attractive aspect with practical design in this inimitable fashion creates an enduring home for a favoured steed and presents its owner with the opportunity to extend its usefulness by later adapting its clear lofted spaces.

The calming environment of a Prime Oak stable cannot be underestimated in its undoubted ability to encourage better horse behaviour and generate a more pleasant experience for owners and stable hands alike.

With past projects extending from loose boxes incorporated within a garage complex to stables for the professional equestrian yard, we give particular consideration to design details to ensure good conditions and ventilation. Likewise we suggest that partition grills are used partway with solid infill to allow horses relief and privacy.

It is our meticulous attention to detail that makes a Prime Oak Stable a financially sound choice that more than repays its investment in terms of real estate value.

“Prime Oak Orangeries display that aesthetic

appeal of good taste that complements a

comfortable lifestyle”

The first orangeries were luxurious statements of wealth and privilege and gave sanctuary in the form of interior gardens to such exotic plants and fruits as the newly-discovered orange and pomegranate.

Page 16: EXCLUSIVE ORANGERIES & GARDEN ROOMS AUTUMN 2010 · orangeries 28 - 49 garden rooms 50 - 67 conservatories 68 - 73 pool buildings 74 - 81 shelters 82 roof coverings 83 hardware 84

A place to promenade in true style during inclement weather, they were characterised by elegant symmetrical windows and grandiose atriums with lantern roofs. Designed to create and maintain a plant-pleasing environment, the increased insulation of their flat roofs ensured fewer fluctuations in temperature than the more modern glass-walled conservatory.

Nowadays fresh fruit from exotic climes can be found all year round, the orangery has become an opportunity to bring the outdoors inside. A Prime Oak Orangery incorporates insulation to maintain an ideal temperature, allowing equal enjoyment of both winter and summer sun.

Bringing the outdoors indoors is best demonstrated by the sweeping vistas an orangery can reveal of generous gardens, neighbouring pastures and far-off forests and riverbanks. They are places to unwind and relax, to brush away the cares of the world. They are sanctuaries where you can solve that interminable crossword or finish the last chapter of a favourite thriller.

They are safe havens in which to dine with friends, escape with the laptop or simply do nothing at all but enjoy the moment. It is worth pointing out that one great advantage of adding an orangery is that it sits below the first f loor windows without obstructing them. A flat lead roof can be laid to last a lifetime or a low pitched roof to soften its external impact, allowing it to merge unobtrusively with adjoining building and adjacent rooflines.

Oak’s beautiful grain and warm tones delightfully mimic the natural elegance of its earlier predecessors with a subtle charm that enhances almost every property style whether period or modern, rustic or urban. Its strong but subtle structures gently integrate a feeling of warmth with a sense of formality, providing a characterful addition to any home that cannot be identif ied by age alone. At Prime Oak, we are the only manufacturer to use oak frames for orangery construction.

“It is the attention to every detail that helps make a

Prime Oak Garden Room so very special”

Oak is a magical material. No mere man could match this product of nature. Season a piece of oak for a century and it becomes as strong as concrete, as unyielding as iron.

Letting oak season in place creates a strong, protective shell which can be put to a variety of purpose and to which we can add even greater variety of finish both inside and out. A Prime Oak Garden Room is perhaps one of the most versatile of those opportunities.

The Victorians invented the modern garden to demonstrate their belief that even the wildest elements of nature could be controlled by man. Observing that truth is a prospect the garden room gives us all. Overlooking nature’s exuberance, it is a wonderful place to relax. A perfect space in which to entertain. An inspirational setting in which to lighten our daily labours, a Prime Oak Garden Room is simply an essential complement to every way of life.

“bring your home into the garden”

At Prime Oak we specially select the oak for your frames, windows and doors to ensure that shrinkage is kept to an absolute minimum and that any residual tanning can be removed after only four weeks to allow the room’s final decoration at a much earlier stage.

The use of light in a Garden Room provides a contrast to many period properties often dark by the use of small windows. Many homes are restricted by a particular room not being large enough for our lifestyles, an ideal solution is the Garden Room allowing light into the property.

A garden room is always an opportunity to extend any property and reclaim a little of nature’s bounty for your entertainment. Oak timbers and natural stone walls create a welcome but unassuming addition to any traditional building. Even the most contemporary home is complemented by an oak-framed extension that adds architectural interest as much as it adds practical benefit

Unlike a conservatory, our Garden Rooms have a solid tiled roof that is insulated to provide warmth in the winter whilst being cool in the summer, creating a pleasant environment all the year round.

“Imagine yourself dipping into gently

warmed water”

The ancients considered wood and water as two of nature’s essential elements. Even today the sound of a brook babbling though a forest glade invites our curiosity and incurs our delight. We have an age-old natural infinity with both elements and feel strangely comfortable in their company. Little wonder then that a swimming pool spanned by oak beams and framed on oak posts invites our attention far more than even the finest forest stream.

The strength of oak allows us to build wide spans that soar over generous expanses of clear, cool water. It supports with ease the heavy, high pitched roofs that can withstand the worst effects of weather and time. It safely encapsulates large window lights to let in the summer sunshine but keep out the winter winds.

A Swimming Pool is a year-round source of pleasure for owners and their friends alike.
