Newsletter #1 / 23 January 2020 Dear Parents, Guardians and Learners The new decade is well underway and I am very pleased to welcome our educators, staff, learners and their families back to the school for 2020. This year marks a milestone for Rand Park High School as we celebrate our 40 th anniversary. When paging through some of the original school magazines from the 1980s, it’s clear that Rand Park has evolved from a small school with excellent academics to a large school with a substantial range of extra-curricular activities, excellent academics and a reputation that we are very proud of. Congratulations to our Grade 12 Class of 2019 on their success. The media coverage we have already received has shared many of our top achievers’ results but we are particularly proud of our 77% bachelor’s pass rate and the full house distinction passes. Connor Houston obtained the highest marks for Information Technology in Gauteng, with a 99% final mark. He also obtained 98% for Physical Science, 97% for Mathematics and 94% for Accounting. Kyla Swart achieved 99% for Visual Art; an outstanding achievement. A first in the history of the school is that our 2015 Head Boy and Head Girl Joshua Ashwood and Tiffany Johnson have both re-joined the school this year, but now as graduates and full-time educators. The beginning of every year brings new promises and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. I wish everyone a successful year. Yours sincerely A WILKE Principal 40 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

Dear Parents, Guardians and Learners The new decade is well underway and I am very pleased to welcome our educators, staff, learners and their families back to the school for 2020. This year marks a milestone for Rand Park High School as we celebrate our 40th anniversary. A first in the history of the school is that our 2015 Head Boy and Head Girl – Joshua Ashwood and Tiffany Johnson – have both re-joined the school this year, but now as graduates and full-time educators. The beginning of every year brings new promises and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. I wish everyone a successful year. Yours sincerely A WILKE Principal

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grade 8 Inauguration The annual Grade 8 orientation week culminated in the symbolic candle-lighting ceremony which signified the beginning of a new chapter for our junior learners who joined us in Grade 8 this year. The Grade 8s presented their song, written by the Leaders, to their parents at Friday evening’s inauguration to great applause. We welcome every new learner across our grades and wish you well during your high school years at Rand Park.

Morning & Afternoon Drop-off & Collection of Learners

We appeal to all parents and school transport service providers to refrain from parking on street corners, double-parking and obstructing our neighbours’ driveways. We are unable to alter the road infrastructure in the area and therefore have to exercise patience and caution during peak traffic times before and after school hours.
