Principal’s Report
North Coast National
I was lucky enough to be able to call in to The North Coast National last Thursday and see our Junior and Senior Choirs
and school band perform. All items were of high quality and the large audience responded positively with enthusiastic
applause. Our school music program is one of the many outstanding learning opportunities that Lismore Public School
students can participate in. It was wonderful to see them have this opportunity to perform for a wide audience and
showcase their amazing talent. All students proudly wore their school uniforms and were outstanding representatives of
our school, both in performance and behaviour. A huge thanks to Mrs Cole, Mrs Hendricks and Mrs Berry who support our
music program and supervised our students at this event.
Parking
I would like to take this opportunity to ask all families to be considerate of our school neighbours when picking up and
dropping students off at school by not parking across driveways. Whilst we appreciate that parking is limited and you may
think you are just going to be “very quick” this can be a huge inconvenience to our neighbours in Pound Street if they wish
to leave or return to their properties. There are several gate options around the school at pick up time that provide
alternate options for parking. We appreciate your support in this matter.
School Attendance
A reminder to all families that attendance at school is compulsory. If your child is absent from school please contact their
teacher or the school office to provide a reason for their absence. Teachers regularly monitor student attendance and may
contact you if they are concerned about your child’s attendance. Please support your child’s learning and emotional
development by encouraging regular school attendance.
State Athletics
I would like to take this opportunity to wish Jazlee and Shikinah the very best of luck as they travel to Olympic Park in
Sydney to compete in the NSW PSSA State Athletics Championships next week. To qualify to complete at this level is an
outstanding achievement and the Lismore Public School community are extremely proud of them. Have fun and enjoy the
experience.
Have a fabulous week!!

Music News
Last Thursday over 80 students performed on the Community Stage at the North Coast National. The Junior Choir sang
‘Puff The Magic Dragon’ and ‘Hola Lola’ before the Senior Choir presented ‘In The Arms Of An Oak’ and ‘Joyful, Joyful’.
Both choirs are to be commended on their beautiful singing of these challenging pieces. The school band played ‘Time
Warp’, ‘Seven Nation Army’ and ‘Clocks’ before the students explored the pavilions at the Lismore show. Staff supervising
the excursion and family members in the audience commented on the outstanding and respectful behaviour of the
students representing the school.
Band students are reminded that lessons will continue this term with Andrew and Ian to prepare music for the LPS
Christmas Carols and assembly performances. School instruments are available for hire for any Stage 2 or 3 students
intending to start learning flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet or drums. Guitar lessons are available for students owning
their own instrument. Notes are available from the school office for details.
Music Count Us In
LPS has registered to participate in Music Count Us in again this year. All students have been learning ‘One Song’ in preparation for the event on 1
st November. Explore the website www.musiccountusin.org.au to hear the song and find out
more about the program.
University students
This term we have an education student from Southern Cross University completing his practicum experiences at
