Excellence, Opportunity and Success
We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Elders past and present of the Wijabul Wiyabal people and other peoples of Bundjalung Nation.
We acknowledge that they are the first peoples of this land on which our school stands.
Primary Choral Festival Thirty six senior choir students performed in the Primary
Choral Festival at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday, 7th
November as part of the mass choir of approximately 700
singers. The students travelled by bus with 26 Lennox Head
PS students and their two staff. Our students were supervised
by Mrs Berry, Mrs Cole as well as two parents Leanne
Hamilton and Melissa Townsend-Gailer. We were able to walk
across the Sydney Harbour bridge on Sunday evening before
visiting Taronga Zoo and watching Ballina PS and Southern
Cross students in the Monday evening concert at the Opera
House. On Tuesday morning there was a Captain Cook cruise
on Sydney Harbour before the afternoon rehearsal and
evening performance. Many students were fortunate to have
family members joining them for various parts of the excursion
to share the excitement. Staff members from various school
and members of the general public commended the behaviour
and quality of performance from the students representing
Lismore Public and all staff were impressed by the respect
and consideration shown to others at all times. The parents
assisting approached local businesses to support the event.
The staff and students are extremely grateful for the generous
donations of sunscreen and bottled water from ChemPro and
the snacks and drinks supplies from both Woolworths and
Coles.

Principal’s Report
Bus Bay
Parents and Carers are reminded about obeying the road rules around our school. In particular the bus bay. Parking or stopping in this area during the designated bus times is illegal. Police do random checks and will fine people $257 if caught. It is a safety concern at our school and I respectfully ask that you obey the road rules everywhere but especially around our school.
Kindergarten Transition Days
Our 2018 Kindergarten students begin their transition to “Big School’ this Friday. They will attend for a couple of hours for four consecutive Fridays for weeks 6 to 9. We look forward to meeting our new students and families.
2018 Captain Speeches
Congratulations to our nominees for 2018 Lismore Public School Captains. Each candidate presented a speech to the whole school assembly last Friday. They did a great job. The students will now vote for their preferred candidate. The 2018 Captains and Vice Captains will be announced at our annual School Presentation Day ceremony on Tuesday 12
th
December. Good luck to all the nominees.
Opera House Choir Visit
Last week our school choir travelled to Sydney to participate in the Primary Choral Festival by performing at the Sydney Opera House. Our choir were amazing and mesmerised the audience with their singing. Well done to all students for their exceptional behaviour whilst on the excursion. Thanks to our parent support crew as well. A very special mention to Mrs Cole and Mrs Berry for coordinating this program – we are very lucky to have such dedicated and talented staff at Lismore Public School.
P&C Meeting
The next meeting of our school’s P&C is on Tuesday 21 November (next week) commencing at 6pm. All families are invited and welcome to attend to discuss school events. It a friendly meeting and a great chance to catch up with other families at our school. We look forward to seeing you there.
Have a great week and an enjoyable term.

Remembrance Day
On Friday. 10th November the Senior Choir sang beautifully in the ceremony for Remembrance
Day at Fromelles Manor in McKenzie St, Lismore. The students listened carefully to the guest
speakers and their renditions of ‘God Of Our Father’ and ‘God Bless Australia’ were
appreciated by staff, residents and members of the Fromelles community.

Music lessons
Andrew Hills will be returning to Lismore Public School in 2018 to tutor small
groups of students learning flute, saxophone, clarinet, guitar and drums. Please
collect a note from the front office at school now if your child is interested in starting
next year. These lessons are available for students from Year 3 to Year 6. There
are a limited supply of instruments available for hire through the school. Students
must have their own guitar or drum kit if they are to undertake music lessons.

Science Experiments
Stage 3 had to build a rocket from cardboard and a bottle.
My rocket had wings and a cone around the bottom of the bottle.
I used vinegar and 2 teaspoons bi-carbonate of soda in a tissue.
I put the tissue in the bottle and then put the bottle on the stick
and it shot off. The rocket travelled the same height as Mr
Hoskins shed.
By Brock
My bottle had nothing on it except spray paint. I put the
bi-carbonate of soda in the tissue and then we put it on the stick
and stabbed the stick into the ground. We waited for a couple of
seconds until it shot off. It travelled as tall as B block.
