Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual cele‐ bration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2018 is Janu‐ ary 28 ‐ February 3. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2018 is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation. OPEN HOUSE: We are celebrating the start of Catholic Schools Week with an Open House on Sunday, January 28, from 10 AM until 12:30 PM. Invite family and friends to join us at the 9 AM Mass. The STM Girl Scouts will be selling breakfast in the hall from 8:30 AM until 2 PM. Applications for the 2018‐2019 school year will be available in the school office. The stu‐ dents would love to share what they have learned with their parents, school families, and with new families interested in enrolling their children at Saint Thomas More School. Stu‐ dents who wear their formal uniform that day will receive a free dress pass. ARRANGE FOR A SITTER: The Night in Hollywood Dinner Dance and Silent Auction will take place Saturday, February 3rd. Every family is required to purchase two tickets which will be credited towards your mandatory fundraising. Please help your room parents to create the class auction items. We are ac‐ cepting donations of any kind, including cash, gift cards, games, event tickets, theme park passes, and electronics. In case someone has questions, please contact Michelle Hernandez‐Payan, 626‐825‐9033. The venue on the campus of Cal State University LA is beautiful, with excellent food and service, so make plans to get dressed up and join us for a great evening. Excellence in Education Lord, You make all things new. You bring hope alive in our hearts and cause our Spirits to be born again. Thank you for this new year. For all the potential it holds. Come and kindle in us a mighty flame so that in our time, many will see the wonders of God and live forever to praise Your glorious name. www.stthomasmorealhambra.org St. Thomas More Parish School January 10, 2018 Weekly Newsletter Did You Know: Teenagers spend a lot of time online, making them prime targets for human traffickers. Using online ads that promise money and adventure in exciting, glamorous cities, traffickers attract young women and girls. Parents should be aware of the serious dangers online, and monitor what their children’s online activity – sites they visit, social networks they may belong to, and who they are connecting with online. Please remember in your prayers the family of Barbara Ann Frumento, grandmother of Gio (8th), Tabitha (5th), Madelyn (2nd) and Zoey (1st), who entered eternal life last Thursday. May Christ the High Priest welcome her into the heavenly kingdom!
