Excel Tutorial - How To Get The Margins Right On The Excel Spreadsheet and Print On One Page. Suppose you received a file from somebody and you want to make sure that it prints nicely on one page - all data is visible, readable and margins are just right. The first thing you need to do is go to Print Preview (I have it on my Quick Access Toolbar that I taught you how to set up in this video http://youtu.be/KYOmtd_Jvis) I click on Print Preview button and take a look. This particular file prints on 4 pages, not one - it does not fit on one page in Excel. Under Settings section there is an option I can use to make it fit on one page. It is the last option on the list and by default there is no scaling applied to the file. Click on drop down on the right and choose Fit On One Page. Once you do that, you will see that the table fits on one page quite well, but the font is too small. I want to make it bigger. To enlarge the font I will make my margins narrow, not normal, like they are by default in Excel. The reason I am not changing font, but giving my table more room to enlarge the font - Excel will do it for me while scaling, so I don't have to do any guess work and waste my time. So, on the Margin option right above Scaling option in Settings click the drop down and choose Narrow margins. Once you change margins to Narrow, Excel will spread your table to the full available width of the paper - you font will enlarge and will be easier to read. This is how you get the margins right on the Excel spreadsheet and make it print on one page.
