Dress Code Policies
Purpose: Burges High School students and staff recognize that presentable and
comfortable dress is one of the necessary elements for learning. Stakeholders have
created a dress code that insures safety, comfort, promotes self‐respect and school pride.

alcohol, tobacco, or that are deemed lewd/vulgar or offensive are prohibited.
2. Clothing must completely cover the area of the body from the armpit to the middle
of the thigh . All undergarments must be completely covered. Leggings/stretchy
pants/non‐sheer pants are allowed if worn with a top/dress that covers the body
beyond the buttocks. (District approved uniforms may not adhere to this policy.)
3. Exposed piercings, other than in the ears, are prohibited.
4. All hats/hoodies/non‐religious head coverings and sunglasses must be removed in
campus buildings.
5. Shoes must be worn at all times.
6. Hair must be of natural color.
7. Student ID’s must be worn at all times. (Replacement ID cards can be purchased
