YOUR EXAM TIMETABLE

Exam timetables are available on the Student Portal. Check the timetable carefully. If anything doesn’t look right, see the Exams department ASAP (through the careers area).

Print out at least two copies of your timetable – one for

your bedroom wall and the other to give to someone who you can rely on to remind you of when your exams are.

On the day of the exam, if you have forgotten your room or seat there will be a list pinned up near to College One entrance.

COMMON ISSUES

• The following slides discuss some of the most common issues that arise in exams.

• They by no means cover everything so you will still need to look at all exams information.

Discuss the following questions ...

WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES FOR MOBILE PHONE MISUSE?

Device found on you and turned OFF -Device found on you and turned ON -

Likely disqualification for the entire subject award.Phone rings during the exam wherever it is

Possible disqualification from the paper you are sitting.

the exam board must be informed and you could be disqualified from all papers for the subject (including any already taken).

Did you Know? Students often reported for mobile phone misuse had turned them off but pre-

existing alarms re-activated them and sounded during the exam. The phone does not have to ring to be reported. The beeping of alarms and texts

also has to be reported.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR MOBILE PHONE WHEN YOU ENTER THE EXAM ROOM?

Mobile telephones should be left in your bag, switched off. You could even take the battery out.

BUT remember the information from the previous slide and make sure it cannot be reactivated.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO/WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF YOU ARE LATE FOR AN EXAM?

• Go to the exams department as quickly as possible. You must not enter an exam room without permission after an exam has begun. It may not be possible to allow you any extra time.

If you start the exam more than 30 minutes after the start time, the College must inform the exam board and it is possible that the board may not accept your work.

Please ensure that you allow enough time to get to college!

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU ARE IN AN ACCIDENT OR ILL ON THE DAY OF THE EXAM?

• Inform the exams department as soon as possible. You may need to obtain medical evidence before we will be able to apply for any special consideration. Ideally still try to come in and if you are still ill during the exam you will be advised what to do.

Did you Know?• Students frequently forget to bring evidence to support their claim for

special consideration due to illness. Without this we cannot support a claim.

ARE YOU ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE EXAM EARLY?

• Of course not!!! You will not be allowed to leave the exam room before the scheduled time. If you have finished the paper early, use any time remaining to check over your answers and that you have completed your details correctly.

AND FINALLY

Make sure you know when and where:

What date your exams are!

What time AM or PM!

What room they are in!

Someone will either miss or arrive late for an exam. Make sure it’s not you!

Good luck with your exams!
