What is Open LMS

Establishment of an LMS

Open LMS is a SaaS integrated suite of education technology applications hosted at the AWS Data Centre in Sydney and is underpinned by Moodle, a learning platform that provides a modular and interoperable design, allowing for eWorks Open LMS integrated collection of applications, tools and plugins to enhance the core Moodle application.

The establishment an Open LMS site by eWorks, includes:

eWorks’ technical partner for Open LMS hosting and support is Learning Technologies Group (LTG). LTG enhances the core Moodle with a custom plugin framework, called Open LMS plugin matrix. The Open LMS plugin matrix provides additional capability to the eWorks Open LMS platform,

– Full production site with your chosen URL, with standard integrations (Ally & IntelliBoard)

– Access to a wide range of Moodle plugins on the Open LMS Plugin matrix.

Note: Some 3rd party available plugins are disabled by default and may require additional fees on activation.

– A site-wide theme applied to your Open LMS instance reflecting your corporate branding, including one round of client feedback/changes.

The eWorks Open LMS platform has been further customised and tailored to meet specific requirements for Australian Vocational Education and Training providers.

– 2-hour online training session delivered via Zoom to provide you with the necessary knowledge to get your system up and running from an administration and teaching perspective.

– Access to eWorks’ online support portal, knowledge base and administrator portal.

– An active user and storage allowance for the agreed subscription period.

Please note: An active user is defined as one who has an active user account; AND has an active course enrolment in a visible course.

IntelliBoard provides an advanced reporting and analytics dashboard for authorised users. It provides real-time analytics on learners, identifies at-risk learners, tracks and improves learner engagement enables learner self-management, creates better assessments, tracks instructor engagement, and more. Additional reporting capability for site administrators is also provides through Open LMS reports.

The Kaltura Video platform is a single platform purposefully built to power real-time, live and video on demand experiences for online programs and virtual learning. The Kaltura Video platform tightly integrates with Open LMS and includes a range of products for virtual classrooms, lecture capture, webinars & live events, and student outreach — all designed to create engaging, personalised, and accessible experiences on campus and beyond.

Blackboard Ally is a tool that helps enhance the usability and accessibility of course documents. Ally’s two main functions are to evaluate all documents that are uploaded to Open LMS and, for those documents which do not comply with accessibility guidelines, lead the instructor through the steps needed to improve the accessibility of the document and to provide students with multiple formats of the original document so they can select the one that best fits their unique needs.

AlfrescoLCMS (Learning Content Management System) provides a repository for your teaching and learning materials. The LCMS allows you to store your files outside of Moodle which helps keep your course sizes smaller and more expensive data storage usage down. The LCMS also allows for seamless version and document control of your files and allows you to keep one current copy of a file that can be used in multiple courses, instead of uploading multiple copies into your LMS. The Jaspersoft BI platform enables scheduled or real-time delivery of mission-critical information for your training organisation. It provides a wide range of functionality for designing, distributing, and securely managing reports, dashboards, and visualizations.

Mahara ePortfolio is an online platform that integrates with Open LMS and allows students to create personal online spaces to store work/assignment submissions, create journals, upload files, store resumes, embed social media resources from the web and collaborate with other users in groups and so much more. Mahara users can reflect on their learning, record professional development, work collaboratively, record learning progress and achievements in personal portfolios - and share this with others.
