2 Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador Annual Report 2014-2015

A Message from the Chair and Executive Director

Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador has experienced a year of growth in all areas of our Organization. Our programming continues to exceed our expectations with the start up of 11 new Kids Eat Smart Clubs during the school year. We are very close to reaching our vision of having a Kids Eat Smart Club in every school in our Province. This means every child, in every community, has access to nutritious food at

school so they are well nourished and ready to learn. The support we continue to receive from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, our corporate community, service organizations and individuals is truly amazing. It is only through the collaborative efforts of our donors and volunteers that we continue to fuel the bodies and minds of our children every school day. Our fundraising efforts continue to experience growth and provide vital funding for our Kids Eat Smart Clubs. The TD Kids Eat Smart Province Wide Walk to Breakfast 2014 saw the greatest number of schools participate to date. Our Kids Eat Smart Gala, the Kitchen Party, exceeded our expectations in terms of funds raised and new relationships created. We have taken on several new initiatives this year including; a new journey as a member of the Coalition for Healthy School Food, a national organization, with a mandate to lobby the Federal Government to provide funding for School Food Programs in Canada. Our social media sites continue to educate and share the wonderful work of our Kids Eat Smart Clubs. We launched a new social media campaign called #ieatsmartNL to encourage families, groups and individuals to take pictures of how they eat smart and post to social media using #ieatsmartNL. Thank you to our Partners, Volunteers and Supporters for making 2014-2015 a very successful year for Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador. We are excited about the future of the Organization and the positive effects we are having on the children and youth of our Province.

Sincerely,

Dr. Victoria Crosbie Celina Stoyles Chair, Board of Directors Executive Director
