Every person is the architect of his own future

Does anybody know what the future has in store for him? The future is so unpredictable that no one should take his way in life for granted and not do anything to have a good life, a career, a future, no matter the circumstances.

Romania, as well as other Eastern European countries, has a low level of social capital, as a result of the systemic destruction of the civil society and of private property. Values and norm such as trust, transparency, reciprocity and participation have been undermined.

This is reflected in people’s passivity, paternalism, and inability to express adequate demands, inability to understand and accept the differences and to participate at community level in activities of common.

Social environment improves conditions and stimulates dialogue for lifelong learning.

There are lots of cases of kids dropping out of school or refusing to go to school, just because they consider it boring or unnecessary. This is a very wrong thing to do, because without education, you can never have a life, be independent, and see your dreams come true, because you would never find a job, or at least not one that pays enough for a comfortable living. The most cases of kids not going to school or stopping their studies at an early age are in the rural environment, where kids are still being put to work by their parents, or just don’t get any support from their families. Obviously we are talking about very poor communities, in which going to school is a real effort, kids having to walk entire kilometers daily just to reach the nearest educational facility, sometimes located in the next village, or even a couple of villages away, and where the learning process is very primitive. These schools sometimes lack basic equipment like books or even electricity. The thought of having a computer in such a school might be taken as a joke by it’s students, and so, it’s understandable why many kids prefer not going to school, and not thinking wide enough to a better life, a better future.

But urban communities also have cases of school-leavers, and the question on most people’s head is why, when children in city school having a far greater advantage than villagers, having well equipped school, and much easier access to schools. There are cases of very spoiled kids that are used to getting everything their way, and that refuse to go to school thinking they don’t need to study, and later get a job and form a career because their parents will always be there to tend to their needs, which isn’t always the case. Also, there are kids that have grown up in very unstable family environments, and that sometimes don’t have the mental ability to go to school, being traumatized by the conditions in which they live in, and having no support from their families, and being put to work from early ages.

Although not going to school or leaving school prematurely does not help at al in life, sometimes even having finished your studies may turn out not to be so helpful. Some people choose to study in fields that there are no job offers in, or where there is very big competition, such as banking or accounting. There also are situations when people study something that they later find out that it doesn’t suite them, or that they don’t like it, and end up working in a very different field to what they had studied.

My parents for example : my father finished the University of Sports and Physical Education, and now works in a bank, a job completely opposite to what he has studied. My mother studied at the University of Chemistry and she now also works in a bank.

Having a low level of studies does not help in finding a job, but even with high studies, sometimes finding a job that you like can be a hard task, and that’s why we should start thinking about our future and what we want to do in life, and that if fits out needs and our passions, and that we really like and want to do it all our life, otherwise, the future may not be such a bright thing after all, not unless u are prepared to face it. Crucial decisions must be taken at the right time and with determination, and a lot of thinking, because any decision we make in the present influences our future and the future is something no one should joke about.
