A TIMELY REMINDER We currently have some children suffering from
chickenpox.
Between now and Christmas is the most prevalent time
for communicable diseases such as chickenpox.
If you are unsure of symptoms and exclusion periods for
any illnesses, please contact the office for further
information.
As the weather changes, more students have sniffs and
sniffles/coughs and splutters. If your child is well
enough to attend school, parents are requested to send
children to school with a handkerchief or tissues.
* Remember – the best place for a sick child is at home
to quickly recuperate.

YEAR 2 WRITERS OF THE WEEK
How Crocodiles Got Their Teeth One day a crocodile went hunting near a beach. He ate 5 crabs a day. His name was Snap. Snap looked ate the salt water.
He went in the water and saw a Great White Shark. Snap wanted to eat the Great White Shark. He tried to fight it and got
injured badly and won the fight. Snap ate the Great White Shark. But the sharks teeth got caught in Snaps gums. Snap
became a saltwater crocodile and got better from the injuries. Snap lived in swamps and hunted with is teeth from now on.
The End
By Freya Nixon 2D Turtles have hard shells. They can camouflage as a rock. They camouflage to stop themselves from getting eaten. Turtles
have a hard layer of scales on the legs and neck. This is like a suit of armour. Turtles have flippers to help them swim.
Their flippers let them swim away from predators fast!
By Lachlan Gerber 2C
Wombats are marsupials. This means they live in their mum's push as a baby and are born in their mum's pouch. Their
pouch is near their bottom because when the mum is digging a burrow the dirt doesn't go in the baby wombat's eyes.
When a baby wombat is born it is the size of a jelly bean. Marsupials feed their babies milk.

A selection of responses to an Integrated unit about the grouping of an Australian animal. My animal, a kookaburra is a small bird, compared with the cassowary and emu which are big birds. A kookaburra lays
eggs. Kookaburras have warm blood. A kookaburra has soft feathers and strong wings. It also has two legs.
By Lexi Jeeves 2B
My animal it is a kookaburra and it is a small bird. The kookaburra belongs to a group of birds. The kookaburra lays eggs
and is warm blooded. They are covered in feathers and have two legs. They also have wings.
By Jemma Partridge 2B
My animal the echidna is a monotreme. An adult monotreme doesn't have teeth and is warm blooded. They feed their
baby milk and they lay eggs instead of giving birth to live babies. They breathe air. There are only two of these in the
world.
By Kylie Smith 2B
The Grade 2s have been looking at the different categories Australian animals can be grouped into.
Koalas are marsupials because they have a pouch and feed their baby joeys milk. Baby koalas are born very tiny and need
to live in their mother’s pouch for a while before they can survive in the world. Marsupials have warm blood and they
breathe air.
By Isabella Hayes, 2A
Tawny Frogmouths are birds because they have warm blood and are covered in feathers. Birds have wings and have two
legs. They have a beak with no teeth and they can fly. Birds lay eggs and the baby birds hatch from the eggs.
