It is remarkable how afteralmost 20 years
how little many of youhave changed (in caseyou were wondering, that is a good thing).

Dear Fellow Old Boy
Firstly I would like to extend my hearty congratulations, on behalf ofthe Fatima Old Boys' Association, to the Class of 1984 on your con-tinuing successful efforts to keep the Fatima spirit alive and strongamongst all of you, through a meaningful and successful "SilverAnniversary" reunion, just five years after your initial 20th anniver-sary celebrations. The Class of 1984 is definitely a great example ofthe comraderie and bonds that were created at Fatima College, ourAlma Mater. The work done and sacrifices made to ensure the suc-cessful hosting of two reunions in five years is a fine example to allother Old Boys of our College. Well done!
The Fatima Old Boys' Association continues to make efforts toensure that our Alma Mater receives all assistance necessary tomaintain and improve its quality and standards. As a key
stakeholder, we are in a position to provide guidance, as required, to the College during these dynamic and ever-changing times. We would not be successful now or in the future without theencouragement, dedication and assistance of those who have passed through the class rooms of this great school. The success and excitement of your reunion signifies the importance that Fatimaplayed in your lives, and in so doing provides encouragement andinspiration to us at the Fatima Old Boys Association.
Congrats again!

“Why do you do it?” This question has been posed to several mem-bers of the reunion committee about the efforts involved in makingthese reunions a reality. Some classmates don’t understand this smallgroup of guys committing the time and energy that it takes to makethese events a success. Well, each person is motivated by their owndrivers, but for most members of the planning committee, the com-raderie that the reunion and the planning events of the reunionbrings out make the efforts all worth it. As we said last time, a truelabour of love!
“Did five years really pass that quickly?” It seems like just yesterdaywhen we had our inaugural reunion function, celebrating twentyyears since our completion of form five classes. In the blink of an eye we have reached our Silver Anniversary, the quarter-century milestone. The ‘silver lining’ on this passage of time is the many new friendships, relationships, and bonds of one sort or the other, that have tied the class of ‘84 together for the last five years. Thesesaid years have been scattered with many moments of celebrationand also several moments of sadness; through it all, this group hascelebrated or supported each other in a way that is the envy of mostclasses that have ever passed through the halls of Fatima or the hallsof any other College. Some events have been particularly bitter pills, such as the passing of our former committee member Simon (Farrell),a loss that still weighs heavily on us in its suddenness. The outpour-
ing of love and emotion that this event fueled was the ultimateexample though of how our togetherness and strength has grown asa group, and of how our powerful our network has become. Simonwould surely be proud of the results of his efforts.
Going forward... The ‘Miscellaneous Events’ section of this magazinehighlights how, rather than waiting for major events every few years,we now come together for much more spontaneous and in somecases meaningful endeavours. We envision many more such ‘mini-reunions’ over the next few years as we build towards the next ‘big-event’.
In closing, we wish the 1984 graduating alumni good health, pros-perity and success. Let us continue to grow our friendships and uniteour families until we again “come together from far and wide”.
