Ever Forward Stevens Cooperative School is always

striving to improve, innovate and

advance all facets of the student

experience, because every moment a

child spends in school counts.

Gifts to the Annual Fund equip our

school with the support and resources

needed to move Ever Forward, and in

turn, provide our students authentic

and engaging learning experiences

that inspire and shape the future.

Mission Statement“We imagine a world with well-informed, engaged citizens who are motivated to make a difference. In partnership with our diverse faculty, staff, families and the greater community, Stevens Cooperative School students explore, question and communicate in ways that will inspire and shape the future.”

Stevens Cooperative School continues to develop as our world evolves. New innovations, global insights and the information revolution require schools to be adaptable, sustainable and responsive. Great schools, in order to achieve these high expectations, can never rest on their laurels. Yours and our community’s support and involvement are key. The volunteerism and financial support we receive from the entire Stevens Cooperative School community is amazing, as it includes parents, grandparents, alumni, past parents, faculty, staff and friends. Contributions, both small and large, to the sustained well-being of Stevens have an invaluable impact.

Each year our auction paddle raise allows us to innovate to achieve new milestones, from building a state-of-the-art music program to introducing our new robotics program. These initiatives, once started, maintain their funding within the operating budget through giving to our Annual Fund. The impact of annual giving to our operating budget is critical in maintaining Stevens’ tradition of progressive education and in helping to temper tuition increases. Most importantly, it allows us to provide new experiences for our children that will shape them in their future years.

Some of the many enhancements provided in the past from the Annual Fund have included local and national professional development for faculty and staff related to all curriculum discipline areas, equity and inclusion training, progressive education practices and more. The Fund supports our comprehensive world language program and music program efforts and resources. Technology is now officially at every student’s disposal from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade, with proper support for faculty and staff.

A school that never rests on its laurels is an inspiring model for excellence, but it requires all of our participation. Your gift is crucial to Stevens in helping us to continue to build on our many bright spots and to innovate in ways that enrich the school and our students. Thank you for your generosity and continued support in all that we do and aspire to be.

Sergio Alati, Ed.DHead of School

Kim LewBoard Chair

In gratitude,

A school that never rests on its laurels is an inspiring model for excellence, but it requires all of our participation.

Thank You

Creators and InnovatorsWhen school resumed this fall, PreK and K students were engaged with the basic building blocks of coding, while students in grades 1-8 utilized robotics to deepen their understanding of science, technology, engineering, math and even language arts. The new robotics program is geared to a broad range of grades, PreK to 8th grade, while offering meaningful learning experiences that foster collaboration, complex problem-solving and higher order thinking, the very hallmarks of a Stevens education.

Funds raised for the 2016 Head of School Innovation Fund during last spring’s auction, made the addition of Dash and Dot programmable robots (grades PreK and K), Lego WeDo robotics program (Grades 1–4) and Lego Mindstorms (Grades 5–8) possible. “Robotics is a natural fit for Stevens,” says Director of Technology Ashley Hungerford. “It supports our goal to help students put their critical thinking skills to work and use technology to be creators and innovators.”

The Head of School Innovation Fund has expanded the instrumental music program and introduced mobile film studio carts that are utilized across the curriculum from PreK to 8th grade. Once these innovative programs are established, they are sustained by the school’s operating budget that is supported by the collective generosity of Stevens Annual Fund donors.

Thank You, Class of 2016! Stevens Class of 2016 raised the bar for science with a generous gift directed toward the purchase of sensor and probe kits that allow students to electronically measure and collect data related to life, physical and earth science. With the new equipment, students will be engaged in a host of investigations, from determining an electrochemical series to measuring barometric pressure and relative altitude.

Stevens students have more choices to learn and make music! Our ensembles keep growing and this year 5th, 6th and 7th grades comprise our instrumental ensemble groups. Stevens is on its way to building a full orchestra when it adds 8th grade next year. The Lower School is also represented at our newly formed annual concert where 1st and 2nd grades perform choral selections.

Spartans VisionThe vision for Stevens Athletics — growth and the expansion of a positive outlet for competition, fitness, self-confidence and school spirit — made big strides in 2015-16, thanks to the generous support of our Annual Fund donors.

The intramural program (flag football and kickball) was introduced and student participation in competitive sports continues to grow. The size of our cross country and track & field teams doubled, when fall and spring sports programs were launched for 3rd and 4th graders and the basketball program now includes eight teams.

A robust athletics vision and a full-fledged interscholastic program is in sight, as Ever Forward represents Stevens’ commitment to enhancing all aspects of the student experience.
