Lucia, Francisco, & Jacinta were taken into custody by the Communist authorities because they feared these little children were having too much influence on the people and so they were under arrest for 2 days. These little visionaries were actually threatened and told that they would be put in to a vat of boiling oil if they would not reveal the Secret told to them by Our Lady. With much courage they kept their promise and so they were put into a jail cell with convicts. On August 13, 1917 a great crowd gathered at the Cova expecting our Lady’s visit with the children. The children were not there and the onlookers were only able to see a dim light glowing near the tree at the noon hour. A few days later Our Lady came to the children while they were in the field tending their sheep. Her message at this time was, “Continue to go to the Cova de Iria on the 13 th ; continue to pray the Rosary every day. On the last month (October) there will be a miracle so that all may believe. She told them that if they had not been kidnapped by the officials, that the coming miracle (promised to happen in October) would have been even greater.” Then, sadly, she reminded the children, “Pray, pray very much, and offer sacrifices for sinners: you know that many souls go to Hell because there is no one to pray for them.” ------------------------------------------ What a great lesson we all can learn from these very young children about virtue. Once they made their promise to the Virgin Mary, nothing could make them change or quit their commitment, not any threats and not any difficulties could make them back down. Let’s try this. Let’s make a promise to remain faithful to Her requests and let’s not go back on what we promise Her.

What do you know about Our Lady of Fatima and Her Messages???

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of Our Blessed Mother

and her apparitions to 3 shepherd children in Fatima

Portugal I will devote 2 lessons each month for your

information.

11th Lesson = In the month of August 1917 Our Lady did not come to

the children on the 13th day of the month as she did for the first three

apparitions. Lucia, Francisco, & Jacinta were taken into custody by the

Communist authorities because they feared these little children were

having too much influence on the people and so they were under

arrest for 2 days.

These little visionaries were actually threatened and told that they

would be put in to a vat of boiling oil if they would not reveal the

Secret told to them by Our Lady. With much courage they kept their

promise and so they were put into a jail cell with convicts.

On August 13, 1917 a great crowd gathered at the Cova expecting our Lady’s visit with

the children. The children were not there and the onlookers were only able to see a dim light

glowing near the tree at the noon hour.

A few days later Our Lady came to the children while they were in the field tending

their sheep. Her message at this time was, “Continue to go to the Cova de Iria on the 13th; continue to pray the Rosary every day. On the last month (October) there will be a miracle so that all may believe. THE 80TH

ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL GIFT

PROGRAM

In this 80th

+ years of our Parish let’s take the

opportunity to honor our beloved with a memorial

plaque listing their many, many names. Using the year

80, a requested donation from each benefactor would

be $800.00. The list of names may include family

members from inside or outside the Parish for example

my parent’s names. If we begin soon it is possible to

complete our list of names and have a blessing of this

plaque by Memorial Day this coming May or by

Thanksgiving, November 2017.

member of the Men’s Club will take turns leading the

THANK YOU LADIES GUILD

I greatly appreciate the gift of a new push back

chair for the rectory. Thank you President and all the

good members of the Ladies Guild for your kindness to

me. This chair is built best for my messed up back.

Thank you to Nila and Paul Ellis for the time you gave

for shopping and helping to make the best choice.

THANK YOU GOOD PLANTERS This past Wednesday we were able to plant 14 trays of

flowers at Our Lady’s Grotto in one and a half hours

thanks to the team of planters. The grotto looks great.

A LITTLE WISH My wish at this time is, I wish we had a Garden

Club. The time spent with flowers including the

planting and the ongoing care can be physically

and spiritually great therapy and our grounds

can look their best. Speaking of gardens a

worthy addition to our beautiful property would

be a little Rose Garden in honor of our Blessed

Lady. What do you think?

PREPARE FOR THE FEAST OF PENTECOST, SUNDAY, JUNE 4

-This is the great feast of the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, on the 12

Apostles and Mary the Mother of Our Lord in the Upper Room.

-This is the great feast of the birth of the Holy Catholic Church.

Try to make a worthy preparation for this Holy Feast Day which you can begin on May 26 the day after the

Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord into heaven.

For 9 days offer the prayer,

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. AMEN.

Come Holy Spirit Come. (Pray 7 times each day). OR –

Pray the Litany to the Holy Spirit each day for 9 days. OR -

Consider an act of fasting of some kind. OR -

Each day read from the Bible the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. OR -

Do some or all of the above for your spiritual preparation for the Holy Feast of Pentecost.

May God’s Holy Spirit come upon you.
