Seed kit (Zaid Season Vegetables) was also distributed to all the farmers during the event. 3 Kisan Gosthi on Mango Based Poultry Farming and Intercropping ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow under Farmer FIRST project is establishing mango based poultry in Nabi Panah and Mohammad Nagar Talukedari villages of Malihabad. In order to enhance income of farmers round the year in these two villages, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow distributed improved breeds of poultry which were brought from ICAR-Central Avian Research Institute such as CARI- Hitkari, CARI-Devendra etc. Two sets of boxes comprising 100 birds per box have been delivered to farmers on 29 April 2017. 4 Training and Demonstration for on-farm value addition of raw mango ICAR-CISH demonstrated improved method of raw mango dried slices and Amchur production on 4 May, 2017.   • 5 Electronic Media Coverage of Farmer FIRST

    Activities undergoing in Farmer FIRST project at ICAR-CISH, Lucknow was covered by Kisan Manch-DD Kisan, New Delhi on 6 and 7 June 2017 at Nabipanah and Mohammad Nagar Talukedari and telecasted widely. Door Darshan, Lucknow made a documentary on mango based poultry farming on 22 July, 2017.

    5 On Farm

    Demonstration of Bagging technology in Mango

    ICAR-CISH demonstrated technique of bagging for quality mango production at farmer’s field in village Nabi Panah on 09 June 2017. Paper bags were also provided to mango growers.

    6 On Farm

    Demonstration of fruit fly trap

    Fruit fly trap was distributed among mango growers on 14 June 2017. Dr. Gundappa, Scientist (Entomology) explained the utility of fruit fly trap to mango growers.

    Linking farmers

    to market A mobile mango van was provided to farmers from 18- 25 June 2017. Farmers who adopted Good Agricultural Practice in mango, utilized GI and used CFB boxes designed by Institute under Farmer FIRST project were given the mobile van to sell their produce directly to consumer.

    7 On Farm Demonstration of Safe harvesting and ripening of mango

    Safe harvesting, ripening and packaging of mango were demonstrated at farmer’s field on 24 June, 2017 in Nabi panah Village. Cish mango harvester, safe ripener and CFB boxes were provided to the farmers.

  • 8 Scientists-Farmers Interface

    A Scientist farmer interface was organized at Meethennagar on 22/07/2017. A total number of 750 mother plants of Guava, Citrus, Jamun, Aonla, Bael and Pomegranate were distributed among the nurserymen of Bakkhakhera and Mohammad Nagar Talukedari in order to provide entrepreneurship. For raising nursery of off season vegetables, protected structure was demonstrated and distributed to 30 farmers of Mohammad Nagar Talukedari and Bakkhakhera.

    10 Workshop on

    Adoption of Mushroom Diversity for Augmenting Income of Rural Women and Landless Farmers.

    ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture Rehmankhera, Lucknow has organized “Mushroom Diversity Adoption Workshop” on 20-09-2017 under Farmer FIRST program to augment income of this targeted group of farmers. Seventy farmers mostly rural women and small and landless farmers from Lucknow, Unnao, Lakhimpur Kheri and Hardoi districts participated in the workshop. Sri Atal Bajpai, progressive farmer was also invited to motivate the farmers from his great success in mushroom production.

    12 Workshop on Methodological framework on Implementation of Farmer FIRST by NAARM, Hyderabad

    A four day workshop on "Methodological framework on Implementation of FFP" was organized jointly by ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad and ICAR-CISH Lucknow during 3-6 October, 2017 at Institute. Eleven ICAR Institutes and SAUs from zone-II and zone-III participated in the workshop. Experts from ICAR-NAARM,ICAR-DKMA, ICAR-IASRI and ICAR-NCAP gave training to participants on qualitative and quantitative impact assessment analysis, participatory technology development, participatory appraisal tools, documentation and report writing and database management. Project Management Committee also visited Nabi Panah and Mohammad Nagar Talukedari villages of Malihabad to review the progress of Farmer FIRST project of ICAR-CISH, Lucknow.

    13 DDG (HS&CS) visits Farmer FIRST adopted villages

    DDG (Horticulture Sciences & Crop Sciences) Dr. A.K. Singh visited Nabi Panah village of Malihabad to see mango based poultry farming on 23/11/2017 and interacted with stakeholders. Director ICAR-CISH, Lucknow and Scientists of CISH accompanied him to village.

    14 Kisan Mela cum-

    Agricultural Technology Exhibition

    ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow is organizing one day Kisan Mela cum technology exhibition at Rehmankhera on 30th November, 2017. Dr. B.S. Chundawat, Ex-Vice Chancellor, Navsari Agriculture University, Gujarat presides over the function. More than 500 farmers participated in the Mela.

  • 15 Sensitization of rural youth about carrier in agriculture on Agriculture Education

    In order to make young children acquaint about agriculture education, scientists of ICAR-CISH, progressive farmers and teachers organized a sensitization program at Golden Jublee School at Nabi Panah (Malihabad). The program was organized in Farmer FIRST village to encourage rural youth in agriculture. Two NGOs Awadh Aam Utpadak Bagwani Samiti and Society for Conservation of Mango Diversity also participated in the event.
