18o6 has lived and breathed the history of classic cocktails since it first opened in 2007. We pride ourselves on using home-made ingredients, the

freshest produce available and the best quality ice, to create the finest cocktail experience imaginable.

Our menu features a collection of original creations, house favourites and classics.

Based in the heart of the city’s theatre district, the iconic Melbourne cocktail bar is housed in a historical building on Exhibition Street. Opulent

furnishings match the old fashioned service – simply sit down and allow us to take you back you

Cocktail Masterclass:

For guests wanting to host an interactive Cocktail Masterclass, the team at 1806 will provide your group with the ingredients, equipment and most importantly the ‘know how’ to make your own cocktails. Classes are hosted by our resident bartending team, and will run for approximately 1.5 hours depending on the group size. During that time you will learn about the history of mixed drinks, pro-tips/techniques and prepare (and drink) two classic cocktails. Currently the two featured cocktails are the world famous Mojito and the ever popular Vodka Espresso Martini.

Our Masterclasses are perfect for private functions, wedding/birthday parties, team building events or just because!

Advanced Cocktail Masterclass:

For those of you already confident with making cocktails, it’s time to take it up a notch! The team at 1806 will provide your group with your own area along with the ingredients, equipment and the advanced ‘know how’ to make your own infused syrup and two advanced cocktails (one sour & one stirred). Classes are hosted by our resident bartending team, and will run for approximately 1.5 hours depending on the group size.

During that time you’ll look at how to infuse your own flavoured syrup, a more in-depth look at cocktail creation - touching on dilution and texture - and using this to create two classic cocktails. Currently the two featured cocktails are the Clover Club and the timeless Old Fashioned. Our Masterclasses are perfect for private functions, wedding/birthday parties, team building events or just because!

EXPERIENCES

Gin Odyssey:

With gin being more popular than it has ever been, now is a great time to pop down to the bar and get the 101 on all things gin.

We begin our session with a classic gin high-ball cocktail as our resident experts take you on a journey through the boozy history of gin, the production methods that make gin so unique and finally a tasting of 4 different styles accompanied with some delicious canapés. All this infused with jovial discussion to make you a true expert on juniper.

The gins currently featured are the original Genever, a London Dry, an Old Tom and a very interesting Australian expression from here in Melbourne! Our Gin Odyssey is perfect for any occasion - from first dates to social sips.

/ $60 package per person (includes a welcome drink, followed by a tasting of four Gins and finished with seasonal canapés.)

Whisky Experiences:

This is the perfect interactive tasting experience to the water of life, hosted by our resident whisky experts. Here we focus on the many different styles of whisky available today, so whether you are a whisky lover or new to the malt – there is a dram here for everyone.

/ The Mighty Cask ($80 per person): The next step in our appreciation of whisky and what separates it from other spirits. Here we look at the cask and the impact each one has on your bottle of whisky. Do you love the vanilla & coconut from a bourbon barrel or prefer the fruit & nutty flavours from a sherry cask? Let’s chat.

/ Fine Drams ($100 per person): Now we’re talking. Here we dust off the bottles from the higher shelves and enjoy some of the older whiskies available on the bar. When the bottles are gone, they’re gone!

Here at 1806 we are renowned for our focus on classic cocktails and the theatrics closely associated with them. Our current menu has a big focus on performance and each creation will easily help make your gathering a winner.

On top of our extensive menu offering house cocktails, local beer, cider & delicious wine – we nod to our classic cocktail roots by also offering any classic drinks made famous throughout the years.

While you’re at it, you might as well have a look at our extensive whiskey selection. Our goal here is to offer the guest a broad range of whiskey styles from all corners of the world. Whether you like your Scottish peated malts, triple distilled Irish or a light Japanese grain – there is truly a whiskey for everyone!

Every event held at 1806 is personally customised to best suit your groups dynamic with personal drinks menus specifically for your event. The drinks available can be discussed with our Event Manager, in order for you to stay in control of the bar spending throughout the duration of the event.

CANAPÉ OPTIONS

For your function at 1806, a selection of food items can be arranged specifically catered for your event. These items will be brought out periodically and can be scaled for how much you wish to provide for guests. Below is the pricing structure typical for such events:

8 canapés - $50 per person

10 canapés - $60 per person

Custom menus can also be arranged outlining your events canapé selection, also having the option to set up a grazing table with the finest cheeses and cured continental meats.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What time can I access the venue for my event?

The venue can be accessed before your event from 4pm for Sunday - Thursday, and from 1pm for Friday - Saturday events. If you require an earlier time to set up or drop off items, or are hosting an event outside usually trade hours, please liaison with our Event Manager. Additional opening early fees may apply if not specified.

Can I leave items at the venue after my event?

After the duration of your event, you may leave items behind in the venue to collect the following day. These items are to be collected within 24 hours of your event during regular opening times. Management accepts no responsibility for items left behind.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Specific dietary requirements can be organised with your Event Manager prior to your event. This must be finalised 48 hours beforehand and can be selected from our set dietary canapé options or arranged on a case-by-case basis for your event.

Can I bring a cake to my event?

You are more than welcome to organise a cake for your event. Our staff can keep it refrigerated before bringing it our, and will supply plates and cutlery for your guests. There is no service fee attached to this, but our staff does not supply candles or additional decorations.

Can I choose my own music for my event?

The venue has our own selection of classic playlists on Spotify to provide atmosphere for your event, but you are more than welcome to supply your own music. This can be attached via an audio jack to a music device, or by accessing your own created Spotify playlist.

Do you have a smoking area at the venue?

Our bar is a non-smoking venue, with no set smoking area on the premise. Patrons wishing to smoke can do so outside the building.

Can I bring an under-aged child into the venue?

Due to our venue license, we are unable to accommodate any persons under the age of 18 years old.

Is your venue fully accessible?

As our venue is housed in an older-styled building, it features stairs in between floors with no optional accessibility. This includes a few into the venue itself. Assistance can be offered to patrons within our means.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Terms & Conditions:

To confirm any booking, a variable deposit is requested depending on the nature of your event. This payment should be made within 48 hours of receiving the confirmation of booking. Deposits may be made in venue with cash, EFTPOS, credit card, or by direct deposit or credit card payment remotely.

Minimum spends are based on expected turnover in the proposed function area, and hence why it may vary from day to day. Please be aware that prices are variable if any event details change (time, day, area, beverage selection etc.)

Guest entry will only be permitted in accordance with the agreed start and finish times. 1806 reserves the right to refuse entry in accordance with the responsible service of alcohol guidelines. Additional function guests will only be admitted in accordance with the venues licensed capacity. Guests under the age of 18 years are not permitted in the venue due to our license. Guests found acting in a disorderly or disrespectful manner will be asked to leave the premises.

Canceling a function after a deposit has been made can be done in direct consultation with management. Any cancellation made within 48 hours of the booked function time will forfeit the deposit paid. A $100 opening early fee will occur for events starting before opening hours.

All catering, beverage or requirements are requested a minimum of 7 days prior to the event, but exceptions can be made. Final attendance numbers are required 72 hours before the event. This number forms the basis of the final charges relating to food and beverages. This is to allow the correct number of ordering for stock for your event.
