Collections Discovery Centre

Take a look behind the scenes, either on your own or join one of our regular tours. The stores contain half a million artefacts, most of which have never been on public display. You can watch our conservators at work and may meet the Curator or a researcher. The Collections Discovery Centre offers a unique opportunity to see some parts of a museum that are normally hidden from public view.

Discovering the Site

Come and explore this first century home and archaeological site and marvel at the largest collection of early mosaic floors in Britain. Discovered in 1960, the north wing of this remarkable building is an important attraction for anyone interested in learning about Roman life, art and architecture. When visiting, learn about the Palace’s amazing story, from its construction in AD75 to its destruction by fire in the late third century.

A new, family-friendly display in the garden museum gives visitors a chance to find out more about this unique Roman garden through a series of informative panels and hands-on activities.

The internationally famous Roman re-enactment group return to Fishbourne for an exciting weekend of weaponry and battle tactics. Don’t miss this, the biggest spectacle in our 2013 events calendar!
