Event Notice - Santos Tour Down UnderThe Santos Tour Down Under is held in Adelaide from January 16th - 24th. Stage 3 of the TDU will be passing by the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre on Thursday January 21st. It is predicted that the cyclists will pass by the pool between 11.00am and 11.15am,however please note there will be rolling road closures prior to and following these times. The full point-to-point timeline for Stage 3 and road closure information is available from sa.swimming.org.au/longcoursechampsNote: The BUPA Challenge Tour will not be taking place on this stage and should not affect early morning commute.

Event Notice: Club Relay Championships (Sun 24th)The 2016 South Australian LC Club Relay Championships is anticipated to be the highest attended session of the meet.It’s the most exciting part of the meet and it is important that you plan ahead to ensure that the day is successful for all involved.Carparking will be limited at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre for all sessions including the Club Relay Championships. Overflow parking is available in neighbouring streets with close access to the Aquatic Centre event entry points. Gates open at 11.30am. SwimmingSA reccommends arriving early as prime seats will fill fast. NOVA 919 will be outside between Event Entry and Accreditation Entry from 11.00am to entertain the crowds.Once gates open please be patient to get through the doors. There is NO RUNNING throughout the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre and those not adhering to this may be asked to leave the centre. Seats cannot be reserved prior to the Club Relay Championships, so please don’t leave any belongings in the stands the night before as they will be removed by staff prior to the session and handed to Lost Property at main entry.It is important that pool deck is completely clear by 1.00pm - please ensure that your club preparations are finished prior to this time. Clubs will not be permitted on pool deck from 1.00pm until the start of competition.Please ensure that your club representatives are prompt to marshaling for the March-On and are wearing their club uniform (club shirt required).Should you have any questions regarding the Club Relay Championships please contact the Meet Director

Thursday 21st January 2016“Being a Supportive Parent” Presented by Linley Frame (Athlete & Coach Liaison Officer, Swimming Victoria) 7.15am (1hr duration) | Level 2 Function Room

Former Australian Olympian and World Champion, Linley Frame is currently the Athlete & Coach Liaison Officer at Swimming Victoria. She is also a motivational speaker for both children and adults throughout Victoria.Linley continues her passion for the sport through the education of parents to ensure they provide appro-priate support to their children.

This session is for parents only and Linley’s presentation will cover• Personal identity and self-esteem - separating swimmer swimming performances from the person• Communication with parents/coaches• Resilience and Transferrable skills from the pool to life away from the pool• Life balance• Understanding and educating yourself (parents) on what your kids are doing in the pool • Dealing with pressure, coping with nerves and anxiety• Goal setting for athletes• Being a positive and supportive parent• Links for nutrition/psychology

Friday 22nd January 2016“Tips to Being a Supportive Parent - An Athlete and a Parent Perspective” Presented by Sally Hunter and Debra Foster 7.15am (1hr duration) | Level 2 Function Room

Born in WA and currently residing in Adelaide, Sally Hunter represented Australia at Olympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific, World Short Course and Oceania.

Sally set new PBs in the 50, 100 and 200m breast at the 2013 Australian Swimming Championships to take both the 100 and 200 titles and qualify for the Barcelona World Champs.

Were all these achievements possible without the support of her parents?

Sally parents, Ken and Debra Foster, have supported their daughter through her swimming career. For mum, Debra, she had had to balance the role of mum as well as swimming coach herself.

Sally and her mum Debra speak about their journey through the sport and provide tips on their experienc-es about being a supportive parent, such as:• What to do/say when your child has had a disappointing swim• Balancing Swimming and Study along with the pressures/stress

CLUB DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPSSaturday 23rd January 2016 Club Governance - Responsibilities of Club Committees Presented by Bruce Havilah 7.15am (1hr duration) | Level 2 Function Room

Recently appointed to the Swimming Australia Board for the next 3 years, Bruce is a corporate and com-mercial lawyer at Havilah Legal in Perth, Western Australia and has recently established an office on the Gold Coast. He has more than 20 years of international experience and knowledge in the corporate and commercial sector, having advised both public and private companies, not for profit, charities, sporting organisations, shareholders and directors in his career.

Bruce began his association with the law serving as a police prosecutor in the NSW police force, before resigning to focus on a legal career. He gained his law degree from the University of Sydney before being admitted as a Barrister in New South Wales and a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia in 1994.

Bruce’s vision of building his own practice based on genuine service and good relationships came to frui-tion with the establishment of Bruce Havilah and Associates in 1998.

A life-long passion for swimming has seen Bruce hold the role of President for Swimming WA from 2005 to 2006 and has been Legal Advisor to Swimming Australia, 2011 to 2013.

Governance expert Bruce Havilah will lead Club Presidents in an extensive discussion and sharing of ideas and experiences to aid all Clubs Committees applying best practice governance principles at their club level.

Please register your interest as spaces are limited. If Club Presidents are unable to attend, an Executive Committee Member is able to attend.

Other Club Development Activities Club Development Officer, Daniel Lawlor, is available throughout State Championships for meetings one on one with Club Committees to discuss any areas of assistance from club ideas, initiatives, club planning, grants and funding.
