things that are hard to understand and accept. Lent gives us opportunity to

bring these questions to Jesus, keep our focus on his cross and take time to

    EVENING THANKSGIVING

P We give you thanks and praise, O God without beginning and without end. Through your Son, Jesus Christ, you have created and preserved the world

and in him you rule over all creation. The day you have made for the

works of light and the night for refreshment and strength. O Lord of love

and source of all good, receive our evening praise. You have guided us

through this day to the beginning of night. Grant us, in Christ, an evening

filled with peace and rest. And when we come to our own end, bring us

into the everlasting life of your kingdom. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

L Hurry, Lord! I call and call. Listen! I plead with you. Let my prayer rise like incense, my upraised hands, like an evening sacrifice.

L Lord, guard my lips; Watch my ev’ry word. Lord my God, I turn to you, in you I find safety. Do not strip me of life.

    SERVICE OF THE WORD

    John 14:1-6

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my

Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have

told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place

for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there

you may be also. 4 And you know the way to the place where I am

going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going.

How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth,

    and the life.”

QUESTIONING JESUS: how can we know the way? HOMILY

L Though in the form of God. Jesus did not claim equality with God. But emptied himself, taking the form of a slave.

    Human like one of us.

L Flesh and blood, he humbled himself, obeying to the death, death on a cross For this very reason, God lifted him high

And gave him the name above all names

    a antiphon

L For at the name of Jesus every knee will bend In heaven, on earth and in the world below

And every tongue exclaim to the glory of God the Father

    “Jesus Christ is Lord.
