Film Distributor.

A film distributor is a company or individual responsible for the marketing of a film. The distributor may set the release date of a film and the method by which a film is to be exhibited or made available for viewing. For example:

To produce my film the company I would use to distribute it would be and independent company that distributes films for a niche segment of the market. This is why I have chosen to with independent companies instead of larger institutions like Warner Brothers because my film isn’t for a mainstream audience due the themes and content.

It would also be unnecessary to use a larger distributor on such a low budget movie as this would defeat the original object of keep down the large astronomic costs that the producers may face, which could be detrimental to the profitability of my film in general.

Small distributors commonly associated with my genre are 4Digital Media; a small UK film distributor which primarily distributes UK films but is so diverse that it distributes films of all genres and nationalities. 4Digital Media has distributed films such as:

1.Awakening (2013/IV)- Drama 2.Hick (2011) – Drama Hick was one of the movies I watched

not to long before starting this project.It was one of the view movies I decided

to take small inspiration form.

When marketing my film I would use social media. By using social media it allows me to target almost directly to my selected Target audience. By targeting through means such as YouTube, Facebook, tumbler and twitter I allow a range of audiences to view my film. I can also use movie download website as they attract a variety of potential viewers, some of which will be in selected demographic and will be enticed by the advertisement. I will also target big movie

distributors such as NetFlicks and Love Film where my film can be placed under their recommended Dramas or in a selection of movies
