EVANSVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT | January 2019 WHAT’S NEW Since the successful referendum in November 2018, the District, along with its design partner, has been establishing more detail in its plan for district-wide improvements. Each month, the District will release monthly progress reports in an effort to keep staff, students, parents, and community members engaged in the process and aware of the project’s development. This first report provides a brief overview of the approved improvements and the status of each. ELEMENTARY & INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS Designs for safety and security upgrades at Levi Leonard Elementary and Theodore Robinson Intermediate School (TRIS) are in progress. Improvements will include secure entries and office renovations to control visitor access and update school office spaces. The design for site work at Grove Campus is also underway, including extending S. 3rd Street to Fair Street and creating a bus drop-off and pick-up lane separate from parent drop-off and pick-up. To incorporate input from staff and community members, the District formed the Grove Campus Subcommittee to assist during the design development process. During two meetings in December, the subcommittee went through a prioritization exercise to aid the District in determining the areas to focus on regarding the building infrastructure. During the activity, committee members were divided into small groups and given a fixed amount of “money” to allocate to the areas that they thought were the highest needs (see photos below). District leadership will continue to gather staff and community input during the design phase. QUESTIONS? Contact: Jerry Roth, District Administrator 608.882.3386

PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT | January 2019

WHAT’S NEW

Since the successful referendum in November 2018, the District, along with its design partner, has been establishing more detail in its plan for district-wide improvements. Each month, the District will release monthly progress reports in an effort to keep staff, students, parents, and community members engaged in the process and aware of the project’s development. This first report provides a brief overview of the approved improvements and the status of each.

ELEMENTARY & INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS

Designs for safety and security upgrades at Levi Leonard Elementary and Theodore Robinson Intermediate School (TRIS) are in progress.

PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT | January 2019

MIDDLE SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS

To assist with the planning and design of the new middle school, the Middle School Subcommittee and District leadership joined Bray Architects for building tours. On January 2, the team toured:

• Waunakee Intermediate School• Kewaskum Middle School• Muskego Lakes Middle School

The buildings are examples of state-of-the-art facilities that feature similar spaces to those being developed for the middle school, including different classroom configurations for multiple grade levels. Through the tours, the district team gained inspiration for the future spaces and a better understanding of the design process.

In addition to attending building tours, the Middle School Subcommittee has provided feedback on the preliminary site plan and floor plans. The subcommittee will continue meeting regularly with the design team to further develop details for the new middle school.

HIGH SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS

Schematic design is underway for the new and renovated Tech Ed and S.T.E.M. spaces at Evansville High School. Improvements will include: a woods and manufacturing space; welding, metals and power area; transportation and autos hands-on shop space; fabrication lab with equipment such as 3D printers; and classroom space for student instruction, design and computer work.

District leadership and the High School Subcommittee have been working with Bray to review and further develop these design concepts. In December, the Subcommittee and Bray toured the technical education spaces at Evansville High School to evaluate the existing conditions. Over the next couple months, the High School Subcommittee and the design team will refine plans to transform the current classrooms into state-of-the-art spaces.
