My cousin says it’s silly that I don’t know how to do the monkey bars. Even if it’s hard, but I never give up. But I am still trying. My brother even thinks I’m silly because he can do them and I can’t. My Dad is always there to help me if I fall off them. They were the worst thing when I was little. I really was afraid and a little bit scared. But now I can do them when I used to be scared of them. The thing about me is that I always face my fears.” Maesea Cooper, Year 1 “When I was brave I was scared to jump down a pole. All my friends could do it!!! So I felt sad. I started crying and crying and crying. Then Carlé saw me crying and said “what’s wrong?”. I said “I can’t jump down a pole like everyone”. She said “I can help you”. “How?” “Come with me”. So I followed her but she led me to a pole. “What are you doing?” I asked. “Come on, you can do it. I believe in you!!” I took a big breath and jumped. I opened my eyes and I was on the floor, in fact laying on the floor. “I could not believe it that I jumped down the pole!!!” Carle said “see you did it!” I was really brave because I faced my fear. NSW School Vaccination Program 2019 Each year NSW Health works in partnership with schools to offer the vaccines

recommended by the National Health and Medical Research Council

(NHMRC) for adolescents as part of the school vaccination program.

In 2019 the following vaccines will be offered to:

All year 7 students:

dTpa vaccine (Diphtheria, Tetanus & Pertussis (whooping cough) as a

single dose

human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in a 2-dose schedule at 0 and 6

months

All year 10 students:

Meningococcal ACWY vaccine as a single dose

Parent information kits have been sent home with year 7 students this

week. This kit includes an information sheet, consent form and privacy

statement. Parent and guardians are advised to:

read all the information provided

complete the consent form, including signing their name next to the

vaccine/s they would like their child to receive

return the completed consent form to their child’s school

ensure that their child eats breakfast on the day of the school

vaccination clinic.

Students who have any HPV doses at their GP will be advised to complete the

course with their GP.

Parents/guardians who wish to withdraw their consent for any reason may do

so by writing to the school Principal or phoning the school. The Procedure for

Withdrawal of Consent is available on the NSW Health website at:

www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation

To improve vaccination completion, students will be opportunistically offered

any missed doses throughout the year where possible.

A Record of Vaccination will be provided to each student vaccinated at each

clinic. Parents/guardians should ensure that this record is kept for future

reference and should not assume that their child has been vaccinated if they

do not receive this Record of Vaccination.

Year 7 vaccinations will be held on Monday 18th March 2019

On The Weekend... Miss McLean’s Kindy class have been writing

about what they did on the weekend.

Year 3/4E Material World Year 3/4E in Science is studying ‘Material World’:

finding out that natural and processed materials

have a range of physical properties and how these

properties can influence their use. This week as

part of a STEM challenge, five teams completed a

task to design a dress made out of paper.

Students were first put into teams, they had to

design a dress, name their fashion house (Savon,

Phoenix Rising, The Fashion House, Sparkle

Rock & Passion for Fashion), choose the best

design and then create the dress out of paper all

in a set time. After 40 minutes of frantic cutting

and sticky taping, five different dresses were

made. Students modelled the dresses down the

catwalk and then judged each dress according to

design, durability and construction. Fashion

House: Passion for Fashion (Steven Williams,

Myriam Weekes, Milli Bruun, Arlo Blore-Jones and

Zoe Chapman) was voted the overall winner for

design and that it was the only dress that could be

removed intact after the challenge. This dress will

be showcased at this week’s Primary assembly.
