Campus selection
Other than campus recruitment
Previously, this department had a memorable
legacy of 100% placement in Industries like
ACC Limited, Philips Carbon Black Ltd.,
Hindusthan Lvr Ltd., etc. In 2008 pass out
batch all the students got placement. But, from
2009 onwards, a new trend appeared, when the
students preferred to go for higher studies.
Hence, the college had to stop arranging for
placement. Since then, all the students are
going for M.Sc degree after passing the B.Sc.
However, in 2011, once again some students
desired to appear in Campus Placement and 10
students out of 11 were selected by ACC Ltd.

give the methodology. :
i) Before the introduction of Post Graduate course in Applied Chemistry the college underwent a
series of discussions. This is as follows :
In 2009, the final year students first appealed to the college administration to introduce M.Sc
course in Applied Chemistry.
This appeal was followed by a meeting of the in-house faculty members of the department and
the external experts of the Calcutta University and other institutes.
Although, this meeting could not reach any definite decision, but all came to a decision of
discuss the issue in more detailed form.
Thereafter, the department spent two long years on deliberating upon every tit-bit of the issue
and it sought opinion from people of the industries, ex-students of the department and other
stake holders.
All of them gave suitable suggestions and after a number of meetings the department and the
college as a whole decided to seek permission from the Calcutta University for starting the
course with effect from 2011-2012 sessions.
Calcutta University, according the suggestions and recommendations of a Visiting Team,
finally gave the green signal following which the course started from the 2-11 session.
ii) When, under autonomous system, the process of restructuring of the syllabus began, the
![Page 12: Evaluative Report of the Department of Industrial Chemistryvidyamandira.ac.in/pdfs/naac_ssr/departmental_report/ind... · 2015. 4. 19. · Engineering Dr Subrata Kr Ganguli Ph D Associate](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022051900/5fef7c29ddfa5a0a9c0204ed/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
department discussed the new pattern of the syllabus with the ex-students and experts of
universities
30. Does the department obtain feedback from
a. faculty on curriculum as well as teaching-learning-evaluation? If yes, how does the
department utilize it?
The departmental teachers meet among themselves as and when required,
especially at the beginning of every semester and after mid-semester.
After discussion, if it is found, that any portion of the syllabus has not been
covered properly, the department redistribute it to other teachers.
b. students on staff, curriculum as well as teaching-learning-evaluation and what is the response
of the department to the same?
At the end of an academic session, the departmental faculty members sit together
for an open discussion on the students’ feedback received through Principal.
Teachers also receive feed backs from the students in the “Open House’
organized after evry end-sem and mid semester examination.
c. alumni and employers on the programmes and what is the response of the department to the
same?
In the Board of Studies of this subject, one ex-student is a member and also one
member has come from Industry. They contribute significantly in framing and
updating the syllabus.
