How have I used these Conventions In my CD Cover?

My CD cover has a colour scheme of natural colours such as browns and creams with colours such as turquoise and pink to add interest. The design is simple with an image of the artist taking up most of the room, the fonts are bold and simple but reflect the artists style.

The back of my cover contains a list of songs as well as a rating, it also has the album and artists name and a barcode. However, I did not include copyright, record label and distribution information.

How have I used these Conventions In my Magazine Advert?

My magazine advert matches my CD Cover. The image of the artist is the main focus with a colour scheme used throughout. Bold, large fonts are used for the name of them artist and the album. The release date is also shown to be large and clear.

Its eye catching and designed around the artists style, however it does not contain any ratings as well as copyright, distribution and record label information which is unconventional.

How have the Forms and Conventions been used in my Ancillary Task?

Following forms and conventions is important as this is what attracts the audience. I feel that my ancillary task follows many of the conventions well such as the layout and sizing of fonts. I could improve my products to make them follow conventions better by adding the copyright symbol and year as well as any other information I missed out.

The image is of the artist as is bold and clear attracting attention, the colour scheme allows for important information such as the artists name to stand out against the background making it easier to pick out information.

The overall look of my ancillary task reflects the artists style and personality as well as the song and her genre of music. This will attract those with a similar style and taste to hers.

What are the Forms and Conventions of a Music Video?

The Forms and Conventions of a Music Video include; The artist to appear as the ‘main character’, a story, the theme to reflect the song or artist, a performance (the artist seen singing). A range of shots including crane shots of stage performances, pans of the band or scenery, tracking. Editing to match the pace of the song, jump cuts used frequently. Props seen include musical equipment such as instruments and microphones, locations relevant to the ‘story’ or theme, costumes to reflect the story and artist as well as the style of music.

Conventions in my Final Product

Within my music video a range of shots are used. The artist is seen as the main character and performance shots are included. The location is consistent with the ancillary tasks and there is a theme to the video. Props relating to the film are used and the costume is designed to portray the style of music of the artist. I have followed many conventions in the making of my music video including editing where jump cuts were used between shots and scenes. The editing also matches the pace of the song switching between scenes as it changes.

In what ways does your product use, develop, and challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

To ensure my products worked together as a whole I tried to include as many forms and conventions as possible during the making of each task. This made sure that what I created was a professional as possible and would attract my target audience. I feel that the overall appearance of my products work well together and the use of conventions helps do this by making them relatable to each other.

My final products challenge conventions as the ancillary products do not contain information such as copyright and other information featured in small print.
