School Magazine. In my school magazines I had little writing on the front

covers. After lots of research on music magazines, I found out that music magazines tended to have lots of writing on the front cover. So therefore I learnt to add more writing it. The writing on my front cover blended in a bit too much to the background, although it didn’t look too bad, I experimented and decided that it was best to have all the writing outlined so it was distinctive and defined from the picture.

Also where I had the tree in colour and everything else greyscale, I liked this but after research into different magazines, I didn’t see any that did this, so it wouldn’t have been popular in the music industry. So I just changed it when it came to my music one, to just a plain image on a plain background. So then there could be more writing, more colours and less packed.

As my audience is teenagers that are into pop, I decided to keep the informal tone and image throughout and also transfer it to my music magazine. The more curved and colourful writing I have used here is less formal and would appeal more to the teenage years as its not too serious.

This magazine is very simple and less developed than my music one, as I got used to the software more and began to use more of the different tools to portray different techniques. For example, I used different tools to outline and shadow things, also I managed to make things go transparent and managed to change the colours, contrasts and tones of the pictures.

My progression throughout the course. How I have progressed and learnt to use different tools and the software.

Research to learn about magazines.

I had to research to progress, as at the start of the year I didn’t know much about magazines. So when I did my school magazines I didn’t know a lot and just played around with the software. However after I looked at how different magazines worked and the layout, tiles, mise en scene of pictures and props, people used, lighting, set out, font and mode of address they used, I started to put it all together to suit my target audience.
