What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The three types of technology

• The tree types of technology are hardware, software and online.

• Hardware is used when making the film such as cameras, video cameras and microphones.

• Software is used throughout the editing process for example, ‘live type’ and ‘premiere pro’

• Online technologies are used when researching and planning for our opening, such as looking at existing horror opening.

Hardware- Nikon D3200

• I filmed my opening on a Nikon D3200. I used it to my advantage as i had knowledge and experience with using this camera.

Hardware- Computer

• Throughout the process of making my film i used a mac. This included research and planning, editing and evaluating. Everyone in my group had experience with the mac’s therefore we all knew were everything was. Although if there was anything that i was unsure on i was able to look it up on the internet.

Hardware- Dolly and Tripod• In the production of my film, I used the

dolly to capture a circular motion around the characters bed. This made it apparent to the audience that the character was isolated and allowed them to connect with her. I practiced using the dolly before filming as we wanted to ensure that I felt comfortable using the equipment and it would achieve the shot that I wanted.

• The tri-pod was an essential piece of equipment whilst filming as I had to ensure all the shots were steady/still. I had previously been taught how to set up the tri-pod and changed the height to make sure everything I wanted was in the composition.

Hardware-Sound recorder

• H1 zoom- I used this when recording the sound effects for my film. Before I recorded the sound for our film, I practiced using it so I knew how to record and play back my sound.

• Boom- I used the boom when recording the narration as it was ensure everything could be heard and it would be a much clearer sound.

Software-Premiere Pro

• I used premiere pro to edit my film opening. As a group we was unfamiliar with the software however before we starting editing our film, I made a unrelated short film to get familiar with the software. This enabled me to play around with sound, titles and physical editing the clip. After I felt much more confident with the software, I put together a practice edit of our opening to then get feedback on how I can improve it from a editing perspective.

Software- Live type

• I used live type to create our production logo and credits. As a group we had never used live type before therefore we spent some time experimenting with the fonts, backgrounds and the effects. Also it helped us become familiar with exporting the files to them add to the film opening.

Software-PowerPoint

• I used PowerPoint during the planning and research process. I was already familiar with this software therefore it was a easy way to present our research and planning.

Online- Prezi and Slideshare• I used Prezi as a alternative way

of presenting my research and planning as it easily divided the different subject and it looked more creative and professional.

• I used slideshare to upload Power Points and word documents on to my blog. Whilst using slideshare I learnt that you can upload videos in-between certain slides. This allowed me to show any YouTube clip which would help me get across my point.

Online-YouTube

• I used YouTube to research into existing horror opening which allowed me to understand the conventions of horror film. Due to this, I was influenced in many way which would be apparent in our filming.

• I also used YouTube to upload our film to then be put on our blogs.
