How did you attract/address your audience?

Evaluation

Page 2: Evaluation -Question 5

Why would you as an audience want to watch our film?

• If you want to watch a thriller then this is the perfect thriller for you! With suspense, tension and excitement throughout there is no reason not to see this opening!

• If coming in to watching ‘Night Encounter’ with an open mind about what to expect, you will not leave being disapointed! Withmysterious characters and innocent victims it will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for more cliff hangers, plot twists and red herrings to come if you wanted more than just a film opening! What more could an audience want from small 2-minute opening?!

Page 3: Evaluation -Question 5

Engaging the audience..• As an audience part of watching a thriller is feeling like you are the innocent victim

in the thriller waiting for your death or finding out what will happen next, being put in this position really engages and makes you feel as if you are at one with the film. ‘Night Encounter’ is a crowning opening which does just this! Jack being the innocent, defenseless victim is on route to meet a friend and sets out on what ends up just a short journey down an ally when the mysterious night encounter attacks and murders him. This is very relatable because it is set in an every day environment –a common setting for a teenager making their way from one place to another; showing exactly why it is so relatable and the viewers become so drawn in to what they are watching!

• The cliff hanger isnt the most common in this thriller because usually you build up tension and suspense towards the ending where somebody usually dies. In our thriller we swapped the ‘common ending’ and replaced it to be at the beginning. By doing this it shows a different thriller from the word go! Leaving the mystery of now what is to come but what has been done!

• The desire of what is to come next is justified by what I have already stated. • Young characters are used in this thrilelr openeing entirely; eventhough there are

only three characters in the entire thriller all of them are of ages 16-18. Being at this age menas that once again the audience will enagage more so in what they are watching because they will be able to relate to them because the majoirty of cinema audiences are of the teenage and young adult age group, so this being reflected in the characters will represent why this age group engage so much in the thrill seeking and suspense ridden thriller genre and also ‘Night Encounter’!

• The setting and location as talked about before is an everyday situation and place where people will walk so once they see how dangerous it can be in the ‘Night Encounter’ they will think twice about going down there again!
