Evaluation Question 4How did you use media technologies in the construction

and research, planning and evaluation stages?By Rachael Halstead

Research and Planning

We used these two social networking sites to gain the artist’s permission before we could use that particular song

We found out that our target audience were popular, social people and we used these magazines to find out more information about them

We used these music channel sites online to gather information about our target audience and what was the most popular music within our audience

We used this online site to keep up to date with our work, and once everything was completed we posted everything onto our own blog so it was all in one place

We used this online presentation site to create our work, which was different to blogger and slide share

We used this online site to create our work, for example when we had a list of conventions we could put them all onto this site and the audience would be able to see them all clearly in the same image

Page 3: Evaluation question 4

We used this for when we did PowerPoint presentations as this allowed us to put it onto blogger

We used this to create our shooting schedules and shot lists for when we were planning to go out filming so we could put them onto blogger

We used this online website to gather research on our chosen audience and what sort of people that would categorise themselves as, so we would be able to get a better understanding of themWe used this online site to

help us see what audience profiles would match our chosen genre

For example this screenshot shows the list of the brands on the website that you can gather information from

We used YouTube to research videos from our chosen genre, so we could get information about what conventions we saw in what video.

Construction

We used Photoshop to help create our ancillary tasks, as we were able to create the effects that we wanted on here.Brightness and Contrast – we were able to make the photo as bright or dim as we wanted, but we chose to increase the brightness so the audience could clearly see the image.Black and White – Although we didn’t use this effect on our ancillary tasks, it could make a photo seem ageless and old, but when keeping to conventions of pop we needed brighter colours.

We wanted a party scene in our video, as this was able to show the female having fun with all her friends, and to do this it meant using the lighting effects to make it look real. This improved on what we did last year as we didn’t use any technology like this.

For the creation of our ancillary tasks, we used Adobe Illustrator for doing thisCropping tool – we used this so we got the right size image that we wanted.

This was the camera that we used to record all our footage with, Panasonic NV-GS500BThis was easy as we used the same camera last year so we were familiar with all the buttons on it, and for this reason we found it easy to capture the footage we needed this year. As we hadn’t used any of these

tools last year we found them harder to use, but after we had used them we found it easier to do what we wanted

These are both screenshots from Movie Studio Platinum, the program we used to edit all our music video together. The effects that we used were:Black and White –• At the very start of the music video, we used a

short video of the female and male(who later turns out to be her ex), and we used this effect in particular as it implied that this video is old and it adds more emotion.

• Also at the end of the video when the female is walking down the lane away from the video, we also used the same effect here as it implied that the video is old now and she is walking away and leaving everything behind.

Sepia –• For the part in the video when the female is in

the park with the other male, and gets caught out by her ex we used a sepia effect as this was different to the black and white, it made the whole clip seem old and forgotten when in fact the whole situation is all the female can think about

Old photographs –• When the female was stood facing an abstract

feature we chose to put the effect of old photographs onto this, as she moved from the left, middle and then to the right so it showed the passing of time well.

Also we included a time scale in the top right corner of the clip, so this allowed it to look like a real video clip

We used a new software to create our videos on, Sony Vegas.

We used camera’s to take photos of the location where we were filming

EvaluationOnce our video had finished in post production, we posted it onto YouTube, and also because our target audience were social people who loved keeping up to date with the latest gossip on social networking sites for example Facebook and Twitter we also decided to post our video on here to get feedback, and we got a range of responses from a variety of different people from different age groups and genders

Again we used blogger throughout each stage of making our video, and we used it in the evaluation stages again for putting all our work onto the same place

We also used the sound-booth for recording one of our evaluation questions.

Again we used our mobile phones throughout each stage, as in the planning stage we needed to make sure that we could get hold of our actors and they knew where they needed to be, and again in the evaluation stages to ask certain people what they thought of our video.

We also used Prezi for creating one of our evaluation questions.

Once our videos were complete we posted them onto YouTube to get response on what people thought of it
