How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Through the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of my A2 coursework I was able to use and develop my

skills in several pieces of software and hardware.

Mind Genius

0Throughout the construction stage I worked on a piece of software called Mind Genius, which allowed

me to create a mind map plan for my initial ideas generation. This was a new piece of software to me

and after being shown how to get the most from using it, I felt it really helped in creating a detailed, well

organised, structured plan.

Filming

0Throughout the construction stage we used a Panasonic camera to record our footage on. Although I

think the camera was relatively easy to use, and allowed us to create some good footage, I believe the

limitations in relation to the recording/sound equipment, resulted in the footage having poorer

sound than we had hoped for.

0The poor sound quality did have a negative effect on the final product, as some of the dialogue couldn’t be

clearly heard and the level of sound did differ between scenes, making the film look not as

professional as we had hoped. 0This is something that, if I was to re-do my

coursework, I would re-consider and look into getting extra sound equipment, such as sound packs and

microphones to amplify the sound.

Adobe Premiere

0Once we had collected all our footage we then set up a project in a software called Adobe Premiere, and

imported it all onto there.

Adobe Premiere

0This was another new software that I had the chance to work with and explore. I found the software easy to use and it allowed us to easily edit our clips, using the

crop and razor tools. We were also able to set the quality of the footage in to a high definition quality

which massively improved the appearance and quality of the shots.

0 I believe that since using this software, I have developed my editing skills.

Distribution

0We distributed our first draft edit through web two technology's, uploading the finished video to YouTube.

Web Two Technology

0By distributing our finished video through YouTube, we developed our skills in relation to web two

technology. In doing this we hope for our short film to be more of a success as it can now be consumed by a

wider audience.

Technological Convergence

0Throughout the project, to research, record, edit, distribute and present our work, we used the same

machine (hardware). This coming together of different technology's is an example of how

technological convergence can develop our skills, as the project could be completed from planning to the

finished product.
