Evaluation Question 1

My magazine uses a variety of different conventions such as; mastheads, brand identity, font styles, puffs, cover lines and central images.

Masthead

For my masthead I have used bold capital letters in my masthead as this was used in both 'NME and 'Q' and this connotes a sense of the rock genre as it is very loud and big. The colours used are red and black and this signifies being loud and energetic and this relates to the style of music. d are red and black and this signifies being loud and energetic and this relates to the style of music.

Brand Identity

Brand identity is similar to that of magazines already available as this is clear for the intended audience. The use of red, black and white gives a connection between the rock genre and the audience giving the view of brand loyalty which is part of my audience profile. Another way that I have created brand identity is through language used. I have used relaxed and informal language as this fits with my audience and would inspire them to buy the magazine more.

Puffs

The magazines that I have looked at didn't have free items/puffs and this adds value for money and giving reason for the high price tag of music magazines. I have challenged this convention with the use of a lower price tag and this benefits the reader and caters for a wide mass audience.

Images

My use of images were different to those used by current magazines as I tried to change the stereotype of rock bands so that I could cater for a wide mass audience rather than a niche audience. I did this by making the images brighter as well as using positive poses with the use of being relaxed as well as smiling connoting a positive image. Against the moody and dark stereo type of current rock bands.
