What elements make up a magazine?
• Masthead – At the top of the page. Punchy and bold to attract attention to the title.
• My masthead was placed at the top of the page in a similar style to the billboard title. I used a simple font which works well with the rest of the page.
• Style of photography/Images - The photographs in my researched magazines tended to be posed/ studio taken. This is to demonstrate perfection within the magazine and its related artists.
• In my magazine I also used posed shots to in keep with the type of magazine that I wanted to portray.
Magazine Elements - Comparison
• Contents – Contents are included in many magazines to highlight the features within the magazine.
• As Billboard have included their own chart. I used the official top 40 chart in my contents page to highlight top songs of the moment.
• Colour Scheme – The colour scheme in this magazine is pretty simple. Dark colours against light colours. This is perfect for attracting attention.
• My colour scheme is very similar as I also wanted to attract attention and keep things simple.
Magazine Elements - Comparison
• Cover Lines – they are used to lure the audience to buy and read inside the magazine.
• I used similar cover lines with the same style of grammar used to make my front cover look interesting and readable.
• Fonts – bold and easily readable and the style of font usually follows the style of the magazine.
• Fonts were used in my magazine. For each different purpose I was writing for I used a different style of writing for example
