During the seminar, there was also the meeting of DBYN’s General Executive Body (G.E.B.), who elected the new president, Francesco Bagiolini for a term from 2014 –2017. During the exchange market, members of the G.E.B. and participants from the seminar worked together. After the exchange market, some Salesian provincials came to visit the participants of the seminar and the members of the G.E.B. They were introduced to the new president, brought up-to- speed about the new Erasmus+ programme, got a look back at the development of the network between 2008 and 2013 and made links between the Salesian provinces and the member organisations of DBYN.

The Oratory as School for Life (13-16/03/2014, Rome, Italy)

Thursday till Sunday, 13-16 March 2014, the network of Don Bosco Youth-Net gathered in Rome for a seminar on “the Oratory as school for life”. • The issue of early school leaving is not current in our country, but sharing of the experiences from different countries and different youth centers was very useful.

• I think there weren´t preparation enough (participants) before arriving Rome, and for this reason the debate during the seminar wasn't as deep as it could be.

• Various sections of the Europe 2020 framework appeal to my organisation and although we are not directly involved in tackling the problem of early school leaving we can also venture into some new projects regarding this

• It's always good to get new inputs, and to look at your organization from a more global point. I don't know how to implement this knowledge in my organization yet, but i am sure there will be opportunities in the future

• More info on EU 2020 and the Oratory model would have been good.

• This model is nowadays working in Spain.

• I think was a very participare session, know other european oratory realities

• It is already widely in use :)

Before the seminar, I already knew what the Oratory model was.

The method of the Oratory model is transferable to my organisation

The information I got on the different projects in Borgo Ragazzi gave me new insights on how to put the Oratory model into practise

The visit to Borgo Ragazzi was an added value to the seminar

• This visit to Borgo Ragazzi was very encouraging. Organizators managed the technical troubles well. And the evening prayer+good night story were very strong moments.

• Very good, it was long but worth it as a case study

• I could see how it works in practice, what can my organisation do more and I could feel don Bosco spirit (not only sitting and talking but expierience in reality).

• It was realy realy interesting to visit and hear something about the oratory Borgo Ragazzi. It was nice to see the rooms and after 4:00 pm to see the guys coming and playing. But it was a realy long day outside, it was a bit could and with many repetitions.

• In my oppinion it could have had a little bit of more coordination, we received so many times the same information.

• I think there was more to see and to know in Borgo Ragazzi.

• Shifting from simply listening and discussing the Oratory model to actually seeing it physically was surely an added asset to all.

• Most interesting part of the Seminar! :)

• Maybe a bit shorter would have been nice, but it was great to see such a big, good working oratory.

• Disappointed with this as for countries not in PGS there was no relevance. I also though we would be shown how sports can be used as a tool but we basically were just introduced to PGS which is nice, but not of value to this conference. • Yes, but on the local level only. I deal with a problem of young people, graduated from the secondary schools, who have such a big problem to choose the right kind of school that should either suit them and either give them a good opportunity for the work market. Most of them try one or two universities and then usually give up. I thinking about a project that could give young people an opportunity to spend a day a week a portion of their time (while still secondary school students) in some jobs they potentially prefer to study in the future. To create a net with the people working in some professions who would be able to "employ" such a student for one day of the week as a "real employee" so as to practice their skills and to understand what such a kind of work requires. After this experience a young boy/girl should at least know if he/she wants to go ahead his/her dream or to give up and to look in an other direction.

• Cooperation with the parents/families beside oratory activities.

• Developing models of working with disadvantaged youth today. Arising challenges etc

• Comparing UE projects with ours - salesian are always important part of session - learning how to deal our priorities with UEs.

• Yes. To get to know more about the aims, system and methods don Bosco used in his work with youngsters. And as a Salesian (having considered a variety of nationalities) I experienced a lack of moments to gather in prayers - that only should unify us. I know we come from various ambient and environment and context, but I think don Bosco would have enough of courage to propose it.

• Political awareness of young adults

• To cope with the differences of 'believe' within the Don Bosco organisations.

The methods used during the workshops helped to lowering the barrier for working together

The goodmornings and goodnights contributed to the success of the seminar

Where there topics raised during the seminar, which you would like to see addressed during future seminars?

• It was my first international salesians seminar, and i expected that it will be boring. But i was totally wrong. There were great people with heart full of Don Bosco's ideals and kindness who were participating on very intersting discussions. I had a really great time in Roma :)

• Good conference, well organised, nice people, not as in depth as I thought it would be but thats just my opinion

• Sometimes was to much talking and describing posters like with our oratory model, it could contain more action like putting posters at wall, watching and then asking the questions. It could be quicker, active and still effective.

• It was a realy nice experience to get to know so many people from different countries and context. But with regard to contents there could be more input and the methods and the time could be used more effective and varied. This is a thing I'd like to upgrade in such a expensive (not for the participants) seminar. The theme and the programme of the seminar was interesting and important. I got to know new ideas and good impresions.

• I think was a great experience for me, did not have a high level of english and i couldn't make many contributions.

• All in all it was a very structured and focused seminar. A great thank you goes to the organisers for their great job!

• Thank you very much for this weekend!

• It's very sad that we hadn't an opportunity to go together the Vatican City, if we were in Rome!

• Good job, Rob.

• Sometimes a big barrier with the participants of Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia. The lack of openmindedness was an eyeopener but sometimes really sad that no one anticipated on that.

Please give an overall point on 10 on how you experienced the seminar
