TO IMPROVE:
On my front cover and contents page I stretched pictures. Next time I will
crop and move them after saving them to my file instead of copy and
pasting it to ensure the best quality for my photos.
I will ensure that I use a variety of typography and colours that stand out
with the background.
My feature article photo will be a photo of a student making eye contact
with the camera to connect more with the reader.
I will make my magazine have a more formal to include an older
demographic.
I’ll put page numbers on the contents page to make it more functional.
CONVENTION:
The reason I put the feature article photo in front of the masthead was to
present how the magazine is well known by showing that people know what
magazine it is without having to read the masterhead.
I used bright colours and multiple fonts to attract a younger demographic.
The feature article photo is a mid shot with the camera directly level with
the student in the photo to give the magazine a more friendly approach that
will attract my demographic. Furthermore, because the student in the
feature article photo is not looking directly at the camera it comes across as
less intimidating and more interesting (as people will want to know what he
is looking at) to make more people want to read it.
PHOTOSHOP TOOLS
For my feature article photo I used the quick
selection tool to cut the main photo from its original
background.
To get the text for the masthead, plug, puff, cover
line and other writing on the contents page. I used
the text tool
I used the fill button to cover any mistakes and for
the contents page background.
