How does your finished magazine compare to your design?

My final magazine has slightly changed from my initial concept and design. My original design was to have a girly gossip magazine. However eventually I changed my thoughts to add fashion into the theme as it also suits the teenager audience yet makes the magazine original and extra interesting to the target audience. The colour scheme was pink, purple or red which is a common magazine front cover colour as it is eye catching and matches the theme of genre, but my final design has a golden theme. I chose to change my final design colour scheme to gold/orange as the colours work well together and also connote high quality and richness as gold is expensive. Together with the completion of the R and B super star called Beyoncè in the image on the front, the colour complement each other. The block designs have stayed the same as the image and strap lines fit together as I originally planned before. Throughout making the magazine I changed my thoughts and ideas many times but resulted in sticking to my initial plans. My target audience is the same because the whole magazine that I have created was based on the target audience and also the genre of magazine is best suited to my original target audience.

How has technology, (computer, digital, printer) helped you turn your design into a real product?

Technology has played a big role in making my product come alive. I was able to use photo shop and I learned how to manipulate images and add text and other images. This made my magazine front cover become unique as I could develop the colour scheme. It had different elements and tools I could use to make my product look effective. I was able to choose from a range of fonts and colours that suited my magazine and theme.

Do you feel that your product is suitable for your target audience?

I feel that my magazine is aimed at my target audience as it is youthful and feminine. The stories would have a big interest by teenage girls as they include their favourite role models such as Beyoncè, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. I have deliberately chosen a teenage role model to be on the front of my magazine as it would be eye catching and alluring to the target audience I have chosen.

Describe two challenges you have overcome?

The first challenge I had to overcome in this project is learning how to use Photoshop which was vital in making my magazine look realistic. Also by adding texts and other images it was easy to make the magazine appropriate to my target audience and be eye catching. The second challenge was learning how to analyse existing magazine front covers and exploring denotations and connotations of the front covers. I learnt to use the correct terms and how to analyse them in detail.
