DESCRIPTION
Typography moduleTRANSCRIPT
The type module has most definitely been the most useful
learning curve I have had to date. Visually, I understood
how to make a layout look good but lacked the theoretical
awareness behind why I was making certain decisions. Ulti-
mately, this has altered over the course of the module, and
my knowledge and hunger to learn more on the subject has
became apparent in my own personal design practice out-
side of the classes.

Progressively, I have come to apprehend that typography is
more about the logic and thinking behind choices. The type
must suit the purpose. If it is aiming for cheapness, then
cheapness is the look I must attain, if it is geared towards
elegance, then vice versa and so on so forth. Small details
like these are where good typography is separated from
great typography.
My journal has become an important asset in the way I work
and document things I see and want to pursuit further. Un-
fortunately, I began by using my journal as more of a
sketchbook, whereby I felt some of what I was noting was
unnecessary - abandoning the act of letting the type speak
for itself. This will be something I will address post module
hand in once I restart it and hopefully create an archive and
tool that I can reflect on in years to come.
On completion of the course, I can safely say I have learnt
an abundance of typographic knowledge and will definitely
be continuing down this route.
