Who would be the audience for my media product & why ?

The reader of my magazine would be male aged 16-24, meaning he would be a student or just leaving school. This would be the age for my audience as people at this age tend to be more into music especially hip hop music at this time. My audience will be of African American race, as many hip hop magazines feature artists of that race and stereotypically more male’s from this race are shown to listen to hip hop music. Furthermore my audience would be in touch with their musical side as the magazine is about music meaning they could relate to the magazine more. In addition to this being a male aged 16-24 means they would be in education or dropping out as this is stereotypically expected of males that age. My audience will also be from urban areas such as the “hood” or “ghettos” as many of the artists featuring in my magazine are from these areas. By having my audience from the same area it allows them to relate to the artists featured. Furthermore my audience would be living the lifestyle portrayed in many of the hip hop songs featured as the artists who sung them grew up in these conditions of gangs and violence, meaning they would attract people who have or are going through the same situation.

My audience will further also be interested in the newest branded trainers that are released as these are stereotypically what males are enticed by meaning my magazine will attract them as articles on branded trainers will feature.

Overall my audience will be keen on hip hop music and rappers who are new and upcoming as they strive to be like them meaning they will enjoy reading the magazine as it provides information about new upcoming artists like themselves.
