Why not CLIL?TASK 2 Module 3HOTS AND LOTS IIIn the following activity you are going to develop two of the task you have explained briefly in the previous task. You will take one of the task for the HOTS and one for the LOTS, and prepare it really well detailed looking for aims, steps of the task and material or resources in case they are needed. WORKING HOTS

HOT & AIM OF THE TASK: DESIGN Design a healthy and an unhealthy menu. Recognize healthy and unhealthy food.

EXPLANATION AND STEPS: (2 sessions)1. Welcome: (Material: Infographic / Class organization: All the class together)Explain that today we are going to recall the five food groups (Fruit, grains, vegetables, protein and dairy). Then, looking at my plate or with the food pyramid, they will have to design a healthy menu and an unhealthy menu.2. Activities to recall the content / Ice breaking activity or warm up:- What are the five food groups? (Material: Pictures of food/ My plate poster) Class organization: All the class together)Pass around a basket with pictures of different food. The students are going to pick one card and decide in which food group it belongs. When , the students are ready, they have to place the picture on MyPlate poster.- Food pyramid: (Material: online activity) Class organization: All the class together or in pairs)Use an online activity to recall this. For example:http://www.diego-games.info/play/Dora's_Do_-_Together_Food_Pyramid.html3. Arranging MyPlate (Material: Infographic / Class organization: All the class together)When you finish to recall the content, lets talk about how the food groups are arranged on the place setting. Youll notice that the Vegetable and Fruit food groups take up half the plate. The other half of the plate has the Grains and Protein food groups. The small circle represents the amount of Dairy foods to be eaten at a meal or look at the food pyramid to take into account what we you should eat every day or what we have to avoid. Refer to the example food model plate or to the food pyramid.

4. Design a healthy and unhealthy menu. (Material: Infographic, food model plate, scaffolding and dictionary / Class organization: All the class together)They can draw the menu using the example food model plate. Display the food model plate and the food pyramid. After that, they can write some sentences about the meals.

WORKING LOTS

LOT & AIM OF THE TASK: WRITE / LIST Write some vocabulary of food. Recognise or learn some vocabulary about food. We are going to give them some pictures about different food and they have to write the name. (Individual activity).

EXPLANATION AND STEPS: (1 session)1. Welcome: (Class organization: All the class together).Explain that today we are going to recall or learn some vocabulary about food. 2. Ice breaking activity or warm up: (Material: Website / Class organization: All the class together).Listen to a song about food. Visit this website: http://supersimplelearning.com/ Are you hungry? Do you like broccoli ice cream? Do you like spaghetti yogurt?

3. Write the name of the food: (Material: worksheet and dictionary / Class organization: Individual).We are going to give them a worksheet with some pictures about different food and they have to write the name. They can use the dictionary.(Individual activity).

4. Make a list: (Material: piece of paper and dictionary / Class organization: In pairs or groups of 3).When they finish, in pairs or groups of three they have to make a list and add more food.
