Thank you for purchasing a subscription to ev360 Ultimate. We are confident that you will find the

functions within Ultimate to be the most advanced skill development application available for students

and professionals. Our "patent pending" method to realtime audio and text speeds will provide you

with the tools needed to develop your skills more rapidly and pass tests for school and professional

certification.

Please take time to read through this document to familiarize yourself with the features of ev360

Ultimate. The software has so much to offer and we want you to get the most out of every function so

you can develop your skills more rapidly.

We have provided you with a free ($45 value) "starter pack" of dictation audios and accompanying

scripts. The starter pack you chose at the time of your purchase should contain the applicable speeds

you need to immediately begin developing your skills for speedbuilding skill development and realtime

skill development. If your starter pack is not at the right speeds, please make sure you contact us at

[email protected] or [email protected] and we will make the applicable adjustments to your

account.

As you become familiar with the content in your starter pack, please remember that you can always go

to our storefront website and purchase new content packages. We currently have quite a large

selection that should meet your speed building and skill development needs. We will continue to add

more packages and let you know when they become available. Our storefront website is the same place

Appendix A: Installing ev360 Ultimate Before you begin using ev360 Ultimate you must download and install the software onto your computer.

ev360 Ultimate is a locally installed software program, it is not a web-based program that runs within a

browser. It is important to note that even though it is installed locally onto your computer, ev360

Ultimate requires an active Internet connection. Your account, username, software functionality, and

content packages are authenticated via an active Internet connection. ev360 Ultimate will not work if

you do not have an active Internet connection.

Here's an overall diagram of how everything should be set up (step-by-step instructions follow).

1. Download the software.

You should have received a welcome email when you purchased your software subscription. Your welcome email contains a link to download the ev360 Ultimate software. You can also go to https://ev360.exavault.com/share/view/8hmm-7xyafuxi to download the most recent version.

NOTE: Make sure you note where you are downloading the ev360u.zip file. Frequently your browser defaults to a folder called "Downloads", but you browser may be configured to download files to a different location on your computer. Note: If you are using Google Chrome, the download will complete but Chrome will ask for permission to allow the ev360u.zip file to be accepted and saved. It is okay to allow the file to be saved to the default location.

2. Unzip the ev360u.zip compressed folder.

Locate and open the location you saved the ev360u.zip compressed folder. Once you locate the folder, open it by double clicking it. Inside the compressed folder you will see three files; ev360_Installer.exe, License.txt, and vcredist_x86.exe. Note: vcredist_x86.exe is not required unless you are running Windows XP and the audio control does not work in ev360 Ultimate. Do not attempt to install this file if you are running a higher version of Windows or you do not have any audio issues.

3. Open the ev360_Installer.exe and follow the installation wizard. Note: on some occasions your anti-virus or security software will prompt you that this installer is not safe. It is safe to reject this prompt and continue with the installation

Depending upon your version of Windows and your Windows security settings, you may be prompted with the "Windows protected your PC warning. Click the More info link.

After you click the More info link, the dialog box change and the Run anyway link will appear.

Click the Run anyway link to allow ev360 Ultimate to continue the installation.

Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for ev360Ultimate, click the Next > button.

License agreement, click the Next > button.

Customer Information, click the Next > button.

Ready to Install the Program, click the Install button.

Windows User Account Control dialog box, click the Yes button.

Installing ev360Ultimate, this dialog box will show the installation progress. You don't need to do anything.

InstallShield Wizard Completed, click the Finish button.

New Windows Desktop ev360Ultimate program shortcut. This shortcut can be used to launch ev360 Ultimate.

4. Once the installation is complete, you will notice a new ev360 Ultimate group in your Windows Start button and a new shortcut on your Windows Desktop. This shortcut is used to launch ev360 Ultimate.

5. Launching the software will display

the ev360 Ultimate splash screen logo. You can click anywhere on the splash screen to make it disappear. It will automatically disappear in a few seconds.

6. The next screen that appears will be

the logon screen. This is where you will need to have the username and password ready. The username and password that you chose when you created your account on ev360ultimate.com is the same username and password that allows ev360 Ultimate to load.

Note: If the software does not accept your username or password, your account may not have been activated yet or it may have expired. If it has not been activated yet, please allow up to 24 hours for activation. If it has expired, please contact us at [email protected] to renew your subscription. Appendix C: ev360 Ultimate - My Life My Life in ev360 Ultimate is a complete time management solution for users wanting to keep track of

their speedbuilding life. My Life allows the user to add their schedule of classes, add new assignments,

add new study times, and add life events and, add new tasks. My Life is not just for students as it is a

complete time management solution which includes automated time on task tracking built right into

ev360 Ultimate. Everything you do in ev360 Ultimate is kept track of for you so you can see how much

time you are spending on skill development. All of your data is synchronized to the cloud so you will be

able to move from one computer to another and your data will always be with you. If you ever need to

re-install ev360 Ultimate, your data will be backed up on the cloud and will automatically synchronized

from the cloud.

Appendix D: ev360 Ultimate - My Speedbuilding My Speedbuilding in ev360 Ultimate focuses on building speed by adjusting the speed of the audio or

text display in realtime. This is accomplished by selecting from a variety of pre-defined skill

development workout plans. My Speedbuilding is not a realtime skill development application; it is a

pure and simple variable audio or text speed control. The approach we have taken is to replicate the

way one develops other types of skills. As an example, runners who train using a treadmill may select

pre-defined workouts for their training sessions. A runner does not run for one minute at a set speed,

stop, run again for one minute at a new speed, stop, run again for one minute at a new speed, stop, etc.

A typical workout session consists of a workout that adjusts the speed in real time over an extended

period of time while running on the treadmill.

Our “patent pending” method applies this same approach for audio (auditory learners) or text (visual

learners) skill development. This method can be used by steno writers and voice writers. The users

select workout plans prior to starting their skill development session. During playback of the audio or

text display, the software adjusts the playback speed over an extended period of time while the users

are writing. There is no starting and stopping of the practice session during the workout. Our

proprietary audio control does not degrade the quality of the audio when the speed changes. This type

of practice forces users to focus on building speed using pre-defined skill development workout plans.

This approach is the proven teaching method educators use to focus on developing skills to advance in

speed prior to the introduction of realtime in speedbuilding skill development practice sessions.

Appendix E: ev360 Ultimate - My Realtime My Realtime in ev360 Ultimate focuses on developing realtime skills by adjusting the speed of the audio

in realtime. This is similar to My Speedbuilding except that our “patent pending” method adjusts the

speed of the audio dictation based on the user’s realtime translation accuracy. My Realtime is the only

software solution capable of adjusting audio playback speed in realtime. This approach allows the user

to focus only on realtime skill development in a speedbuilding setting. The approach we have taken is to

replicate the way one develops other types of psychomotor skills. For example, when swimmers train in

a pool, they swim at varying speeds over time. They don't swim a lap at a certain speed, stop and catch

their breath, swim another lap at a faster speed, stop and catch their breath, etc. A typical workout

session may be to swim many laps over time; and when fatigue sets in, they slow down to gain

composure, strength, wind, focus, etc. At the very moment of regaining composure, they increase their

speed during the session.

Current approaches to realtime skill development are to write at a specific fixed speed for a set period

of time, evaluate the realtime translation, write the take again, either at the same speed , slower, or

faster, grade the realtime translation, and repeat the same process repeatedly hoping for both

increased accuracy and increased speed. Both skills speedbuilding skills and realtime accuracy skills are

being focused on at the same time. Dictionary development may be part of the process if the user takes

the time to define mistranslates and untranslates to improve translation accuracy.

The potential problem with this approach to realtime skill development is that focusing on both

accuracy and speed at the same time conflicts and actually slows the rate at which one is capable of

developing their skill. When writers are being pushed beyond their abilities and they write steno

outlines that are not defined in their dictionaries, which appears as untranslates or mistranslates and

causes hesitation. When one hesitates in a speedbuilding session, they trail in their writing and fall

behind the dictation, and eventually drop. As a result, this reinforcement of hesitation writing becomes

solidified in muscle memory becomes a long term problem slowing down the steno language fluency

development. When the steno language fluency slows, the rate at which one progresses in skill slows.

Additionally, when one hesitates in their writing, they are no longer staying with the dictation, and they

are not being pushed to write faster to develop skill for speed.

ev360 Ultimate’s My Realtime corrects this problem by allowing users to focus on realtime writing

accuracy by adjusting the speed of the audio in realtime based on the their actual writing ability and

translation accuracy. Our “patent pending” variable speed technology increases the speed of the audio

in realtime when the translation accuracy is within a user setting range, i.e. 95 percent. While the audio

is playing during the practice take, the software computes a realtime translation accuracy rate. If the

rate is within the user setting range, the software slowly increases the speed of the audio to push users

in their writing. If accuracy continues to stay above the boundary percent, the speed continues to

slowly increase over time. If accuracy falls below the boundary percent, the software slowly decreases

the speed to allow the user to regain control and gradually increase their translation accuracy. The

software continuously monitors realtime translation accuracy and continuously regulates the speed of

the audio to be commensurate with users' realtime writing ability and translation accuracy. The critical

component during this type of realtime skill development is that writers are always being pushed during

the dictation and the level of pushing is based on both their writing ability and their translation

accuracy.

Appendix F: ev360 Ultimate - My Evaluations My Evaluations in ev360 Ultimate allows the user to graded their own evaluations. Users can simply

select an evaluation from any of the available packages, listen to the audio dictation, transcribe their

work in their CAT software, and paste their transcription into the User Transcript box and get immediate

results. The graded result identifies what types of errors they had so they can focus on those errors in

future writing sessions.

Appendix G: Configuring caseCATalyst Profession/Student

Version for My Realtime caseCATalyst must be configured to output the realtime English translation to another running

program's text input window such as Notepad. ev360 Ultimate's My Realtime receives the English

translation during realtime skill development sessions.

1. With your writer turned on and communicating with your computer, launch Case CATalystTM and start a New User you will use with ev360 Ultimate.

2. Select Function, then Translate and Edit, or click the Translate Edit icon. a. for Steno Source, select Writer b. for Output Source, select StenoKeys c. click the Remember Setting box.

3. If you are using EZKeys, deselect this feature. This feature conflicts with the StenoKeys Output Source.

4. Create a new file. 5. Enter name in File box. 6. In the bottom left-hand corner, click Options

a. select the Output to StenoKeys tab b. deselect the Longest match. c. for Strokes and Seconds enter 0.

7. Click OK to exit the Translate Options window. 8. Click OK again to exit the Translate window. 9. Case CATalystTM will open a new file, and search for and connect to your steno writer.

The next time you practice with this user, the settings for this user will be saved. To connect, simply click the Translate and Edit icon, select a file, and click OK.

Important: It is important that you disable the audio synchronization feature of the CAT software

program. This is a feature where your CAT software will record audio to your computer during a

realtime writing session. If you are not sure how to disable audio synchronization, please check your

CAT software program’s user manual or help feature.

Appendix H: Configuring Eclipse Professional Version for My

Realtime Eclipse professional version must be configured to output the realtime English translation to another

running program's text input window such as Notepad. ev360 Ultimate's My Realtime receives the

English translation during realtime skill development sessions.

1. Launch TotalEclipseTM

2. Create a New Format (DO NOT CREATE A NEW USER) by clicking on "Save Settings" and

adding the words "ev360u" to your existing user name. EXAMPLE: Susan Smith-ev360u

3. Click OK to save.

4. In User Settings click the Realtime tab.

5. Set Flush Delay to 2000 ms.

6. Under Output formats click Add and select Keyboard Macro from the list

7. Click OK.

8. In User Settings go to the Edit Tab and click on the Macros button.

9. Scroll down the list and select K:LINEFEED, and click the Edit button.

10. The Macro Editor dialog box will appear and the name of the macro (K:LINEFEED) will

appear in the edit box. Change the name of the macro from K:LINEFEED to K:PARAGRAPH.

11. Click OK to close the Macro screen

12. Click OK again to close the User Settings.

13. Click the Realtime Icon on the toolbar. A new file will begin and your realtime file will be

displayed on the screen.

14. The next time you use ev360 Ultimate with Eclipse, select this format and simply click on the

Realtime icon to begin a file.

Important: If you use the audio synchronization feature in Eclipse, please disable it in your ev360

Ultimate format by removing the check in the checkbox next to Record audio in the Translate Notes

dialog. If you typically use the Realtime Icon to start a realtime file, instead press <Alt-T> to bring up the

Translate Notes dialog and turn off Record audio. That feature will now be turned off in this format, so

the next time you start a realtime file, you can use the Realtime Icon.

Appendix I: Configuring Eclipse Student Version for My

Realtime Eclipse student version must be configured to output the realtime English translation to another running



1. Launch TotalEclipseTM

2. Create a New Format (DO NOT CREATE A NEW USER) by clicking on "Save Settings" and

adding the words "ev360u" to your existing user name. EXAMPLE: Susan Smith-ev360u

3. Click OK to save.

4. In User Settings click the Realtime tab.

5. Set Flush Delay to 2000 ms.

6. Under Output formats click Add and select Keyboard Macro from the list

7. Click OK.

8. In User Settings go to the Edit Tab and click on the Macros button.

9. Scroll down the list and select K:LINEFEED, and click the Edit button.

10. The Macro Editor dialog box will appear and the name of the macro (K:LINEFEED) will

appear in the edit box. Change the name of the macro from K:LINEFEED to K:PARAGRAPH.

11. Click OK to close the Macro screen

12. Click OK again to close the User Settings.

13. Click the Realtime Icon on the toolbar. A new file will begin and your realtime file will be

displayed on the screen.

14. The next time you use ev360 Ultimate with Eclipse, select this format and simply click on the

Realtime icon to begin a file.

Important: If you use the audio synchronization feature in Eclipse, please disable it in your ev360

Ultimate format by removing the check in the checkbox next to Record audio in the Translate Notes

dialog. If you typically use the Realtime Icon to start a realtime file, instead press <Alt-T> to bring up the

Translate Notes dialog and turn off Record audio. That feature will now be turned off in this format, so

the next time you start a realtime file, you can use the Realtime Icon.

Appendix J: Configuring DigitalCAT for My Realtime DigitalCAT must be configured to output the realtime English translation to another running program's

text input window such as Notepad. ev360 Ultimate's My Realtime receives the English translation

during realtime skill development sessions.

1. With your writer turned on and communicating with your computer, launch DigitalCATTM

2. Create a new file.

a. go to Options

b. select CATnip.

c. change settings as follows:

i. Question Q.

ii. Answer A.

iii. Colloquy Blank

iv. Paragraph Blank

3. In the Transcript Editor click Tools

4. Select Start CATnip Session.

The next time you practice with this user, the settings for that "user" will be saved. To connect again,

click Transcript Editor, Options, CATnip.

Note: It may take a few seconds for the text to show up in ev360 Ultimate. To end your writing session you will need to stroke TK-FPL on your writer. This will ensure that all the text is sent from the DigitalCATTM software.

Important: It is important that you disable the audio synchronization feature of the CAT software program. This is a feature where your CAT software will record audio to your computer during a realtime writing session. If you are not sure how to disable audio synchronization, please check your CAT software program’s user manual or help feature.

Enabling Winner's RiTETM module:

1. If you do not yet have your RiTETM module enabled, call Advanced Translations Technology, Inc.

customer service at (800) 966-1221 to get a RiTETM code.

2. From the Winner main screen click Tools.

3. Click Register options.

4. Enter your new RiTETM code on the optional code line, press the enter key. This will drop down

to the Entered Options area.

5. Click Register.

Configuring Winner's RiTETM module:

1. Click Translate from Winner main screen.

2. Click Preferences.

3. Click Text Entry.

4. Check the box next to Activate Text Entry.

5. Click the Browse button.

6. In the Look In box, click the down arrow to the right of Sys32.

7. Click the C:\ drive.

8. Click Windows.

9. Click Notepad (some of you will see Notepad.exe)

10. Click Open.

11. Click OK.
