Dear fratres and sorores,Friends of the AMORC,

Salutem punctis trianguli!

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the European Convention to be held in the World Forum of The Hague, the Netherlands, on 7th, 8th and 9th June 2013.

The theme of Unity in Diversity will for some days unite Rosicrucians and friends of the AMORC, from European countries and beyond, in a joint fraternal striving to discover unity in diversity.

The face of the whole universe, though it varies in infinite modes, yet remains always the same. This is how the well-known Dutch philosopher Baruch de Spinoza describes unity in diversity. It is the mystic’s striving to find unity in diversity. A pursuit that may also be considered the major characteristic of this age in which there seems to be an overall search for a new balance. It is an assignment to all of us, whilst being in the midst of everything that keeps us apart, to start seeking unity.

There are many layers to unity in diversity. We, for instance, are one as members of the Rosicrucian Order AMORC. We are one when speaking the language of our Order, the language of the pilgrim on the path. It is the language of the heart, the universal language of love connecting every-thing and understood by all. This is where we find the highest expression of unity in diversity.

I would like to invite you to come and share with us and with eachother the experience of Unity in Diversity on 7th, 8th and 9th June.

In the bonds of the Order,Sincerely and fraternally,Klaas-Jan Bakker

SURROUNDINGSTourist attractions in the environs

The Netherlands offer a lot of entertainment! If you have the opportunity, we strongly recommend that you prolong your stay in the Netherlands by a short holiday. The Hague as a city has a lot to offer, such as the Mauritshuis (Maurits House), known by the famous painting Girl with a pearl earring by Johannes Vermeer, the Parlementsgebouw (Parliament Building) and Ridderzaal ( Knights’ Hall), the Vredespaleis (Peace Palace) and not to forget the beach of Scheveningen.

More tourist information is to be found on the website of the city of The Hague www.denhaag.com.

Whoever thinks of the Netherlands undoubtedly thinks of Amsterdam. It is definitely worthwhile to visit this city. Amsterdam is within easy reach of The Hague both by train and car taking only 30 minutes. Do go for a round trip of the Amsterdam canals (acclaimed as world heritage by Unesco) and pay a visit to the recently fully restored Rijksmuseum (National Museum , home to Rembrandt’s Night Watch), the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frankhuis (Anne Frank House). The Zaanse Schans and Volendam can be highly recommended to those of you who are interested in the folkloristic features of the Netherlands. Obviously, this is just a small selection from the opportunities. Go to www.amsterdam.com for all Amsterdam sights or to www.vvv.nl for other sights in the Netherlands.
