1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the lttJijll digital proportional remot contro l systcm.lf this your first computer radio. rest assured that it is des igned to make initial setup and fieldtuning of your more accurate than would be if using a non-computer radio. Although this is a geginner or sport sysle11with the requirements of those flyers in mind, in order to make the best use of your EURGLE rcps6 1207 and to operate it safely, you must carefu l ly read all of the instructions.

Suggestion: lf, wh i I e reading the instruct ions, you are unci ear of some of the procedures or functions and become stuck, continue to read on anyway. Often, the function or procedure wi II go explained again later in a different Jay providing another perspedctive from which to understand it. Another suggestion is to connect the battery, switch and servos to the receiver and actually Operate the radio of your wordbench as you make progra••iog changes. Then, you' II be able to see the effects of your progra1ming inputs.

If any difficulties are encounter ed while setting up or operating your system, please consult the instruction manual first. For furt~sis tance you may also refer to yout hobby dealer, or contact the MJI Service Center at the website.

\Varning : Always keep electrical compooe·nts away from small children.

FLYING SAFETY To ensure the safety or yorself and others. please bserve the following preeaullons :

Have regular malntenanee perform.ed. Although our super protects the model memories • with non- volatile EEPROM memory(wbleb does not require periodic replaeemenl) and not a

baetery, II still should have regular cbeekuJ!S for wear and t ear .

NI- Cd Battery ChBl'ge the · batteries ! l See · Char&lng· the · Nl- Cd-batteries, p; 9; ror · detau s; I Always recharge

• the transmitter and receiver batteries for at least 8 hours before each Dying session. A low battery will soon die. causing loss or control and a crash. When you begin your Dying session, reset your transmitter's built- In timer, and during the session pay attention to the duration or usal!e.

• Stop Dying long be(ore your batteries become low on charge. Do not rely on youl radio' low battery warning systems. Intended only as a precaution. to tell you when to techar ge. Always cheek yout transmitter and receiver batteries pr ior to ·each flight.

• Aways pay particular allenUon to the Dying field' s rules, as well as tbe presence and location or spectators. the wind dlreeJion. and any obstacles on the field. Be •ery ureful Dying In areas near power lines, tall buildings. or communication raciiiUes as there maybe radio Interference In tbell vl~nlty,

If you must Dy away from a club field . be sure there are no other modelers Dying within a three- tofive- mile ranee. or you may lose eontro~ or your aircraft or cause someone else to lose control.

At the flying field

• To pret·ent possible damage to your radio gear, turn the power swllc_bes on and offln the proper sequence

1. Pull throttle slick to Idle posltlon,or otherwise disarm your motor/engne.

2. Tu.rn on the transmitter po,.·er a.ncl allow your transmitter co reach Its home screen 3. Confirm the proper model memory bas been selected

4. Fully extend the transmitter antenna

5. Turn on your receiver power

6. Test all controls U aseno operates abnormally, don' t attempt to ny u.ntll you dete rmine the eause or fhe problem( for J'CM systems only:Testto ensure that the failSafe settings are correct by walli ng at leastl mi- nutes after adjusting then, turnlng the transmitter orr and confirming the proper surface/ throttle movement., Turn the transmitter back on. )

7. Start your engine

8. Complete a full range eheek (see p.9)

9. After Oylng, brlog your throttle stick to Idle posltlon, engage any kill switches or otherwise disarm your motor/engine

10. Turn orr reeelver po.,·er.

1 I. Turn off transmitter power

U you do not turn on your system In this order, you may damage your servos o r eontrol surfaees,.nood your englne,or In the ease or electrle·powered or gasoline-power ed models, the engine may unespeeted1y tur n on a nd cause a sever e Injury

• While you are getting ready to h y,lfyou place your transmitter on the ground,be sure that the wind won't tip It over. U It Is knocked ~ver, the throttle s tick may be aecldentally moved, eauslng the engine to speed up.Aiso ,damage to your transmitter may occur

• Before taxllng,be sure to extend the transmitter antenna to Its fulllenath.

A eollapsed antenna woll reduce your hying range and cause a loss of control It Is a good Idea to avoid pointing the transmitte r antenna directly at the model ,since the signal Is weakest In tba t direction

• Don't hy In tbe ula!Water or moisture may enter the transmitter through the antenna or slick op~ enlngs and cause erratic operation o~ Joss If control U you must ny In wet weather during a contest be sure to cover your transmitter with a plastic bag or waterproofbarrler.NeYer h y If lightning Is expected

Sl:eceiver Nl-td battery

The transmitter and receiver batteries included with your rcps6 1207 system are rechargeable,Ni-Cd batteries . Ni -Cd

batteries require special care and charging.

NOTE: The batteries are pan iall y charged. but will require a full. ove rnight charge before the model may be flown.

1. Conrnect the transminer charging cord coming from the A/C wall charger to the charge jack i n the r i ghL side of the transmitter case. The receiver charging cord may be connected to the batteries two different ways :The charge cord may be connecLed direct l y to t he battery pack, or to the vacant charge connector(llack)coming from the on/off switcl> in the model. Charging' through the switch ' is preferred as there "ill be no need disconnect the battery.

2. Plug the A/C wall charger into a wall outlet. Note : lf the wall outlet can be turned off by a switch i n the romm, be certai n the switch remains on after leaving the room. Otherwise, the batteries will not be c harged!

3. The LEOs(light-emitting diodes) should ligh t red, indicating that current is f low i ng and the batteries are being charg~d . Oischarged batteries wi l l take about 15 hours to fu l ly charge. If using an aftermarket fast charger, be certain to follow the ~nanufacturer' s instruction:; provided wi Lh lht: c h l::l r ger so you do nol ove r c hi!rge the bcslteries . NEVER charge the batteries at a rate higher t han IOOOmA. The batteries should also be discharged periodically to periodically to prevent a condition cal l ed'memory. If, for examp l e, on l y t wo flights are mode each time you go flying, the batteries wi l l not have"reached "very far down into their f ull capacity. After doing this several times the batteries wi]J "remember"and eventually"think"they can supp l y only enougt power for two fights . After two flights the batteri es may not provide enough power to operate the system, thus causing a crash. To erase any potential memory, cycle the batteries by discharging, then charging them with a commerc ial battery cycler, or l eave t he sys tem on and exerc i se the servos by moving the transmitter sticks until t he even during the winter or periods of long storage. If us ing a cycler with a r eadout, note the cajpacity after t he batteries have been cyc l ed . ff there is a noticeable drop in capac i LY the batteries shou l d be replaced .

NOTE : charging your batteries with the included Eurgle A/C battery charger is always safe. However, fast-c harging with an aftermarket charger is acceptable as l ong as you know how t o properly operate the charger , NEVER charge at a rate higher than IOOOmA. If not done correctly, fast -charging can damage the batteries.
