RAILWAY INDUSTRY MET AT EURASIA RAIL ON 08-10 MARCH 2012

Eurasia Rail - 2nd Rolling Stock, Infrastructure & Logistics Exhibition, the one and only railway exhibition in Turkey was organized on 08-10 March 2012 at Istanbul Expo Center in Istanbul, Turkey. The official supporters of the exhibition were Ministry of Transportation, Maritime and Communications, T.C.D.D (Turkish State Railways), TOBB (The Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) and KOSGEB (Rep. of Turkey Small & Medium Enterprises Dev. Org). The exhibition hosted a total number of 188 companies of whom 101 of them were international on a gross area of 11.700 m2 in two halls with 16.844 visitors. National pavilions from Germany, United Kingdom, Russia, and Czech Republic were at the exhibition with many companies.

COMPANIES REQUESTED MORE SPACE FOR THE 2013 EDITION

The international companies that attended the exhibition secured new business contacts from the private sector, government and municipalities.

The key international exhibitors were GE Transportation, Plasser Theurer, Siemens Mobility, ABB, Alstom, Vossloh AG, Bombardier, Voith Turbo, CAF, Thales, Talgo, VAE, Russian State Railways (RZD) Huawei, and ZF.

One of the most striking aspects of this year was the increase in exhibitors companies’ request for more exhibition space at the 2013 edition of the exhibition.

The main national exhibitors were TUVASAS (Turkish Wagon Industry Inc.), TULOMSAS (Turkish Locomotives & Wagon Industry Inc.), and TUDEMSAS (Turkey Railway Machines Industry Inc.), Savronik, Yapıray, Safkar, Sazcılar, Orhan Onur, and Makin.

MORE THAN 16.000 PROFESSIONALS VISITED THE EXHIBITION

Eurasia Rail had a high number of visitors from Turkey and abroad; a total number of 16.844 professionals visited the exhibition.

The fair hosted the top- notch local and international government & municipality executives and members of private sector.

The fair hosted buyer delegation groups from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, South Africa, Iran, Spain, Romania, Greece, United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Serbia, Italy, Belgium, Georgia, and South Korea.

Some of the key visitors were: Mr. Binali Yildirim, Minister of Transportation from Turkey, Mr. Süleyman Karaman, General Manager of Turkish State Railways, H.E. Ivaylo Moskovski, Minister of Transportation of Bulgaria; Mr. Kamen Krechev, Deputy Minister from Transportation of Bulgaria, Mr. Rafie Yousef Abbas, General Director of State Company of the Iraqi Railways, Mr. Jindrich Kusnir, Director of Railway Department from the Ministry of Transportation in Czech Republic, and Mr. Ioannis Petropoulos, General Manager of ERGOSE, the subsidiary of Hellenic State Railways.

The next edition of EURASIA RAIL will take place on 07-09 March 2013 at Istanbul Expo Center (IFM) in Istanbul, Turkey.

KEY NOTES FROM THE OPENING CEREMONY OF EURASIA RAIL 2012

Mr. Binali Yildirim, the Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication from Turkey made the opening speech at the exhibition. He said that it was such a success that Eurasia Rail exhibition to host 188 companies from 21 different countries.

He mentioned at the speech that: “Inside the railway targets of Turkey for the next 10 years are to add 30 billion dollars of new railway investments to the current ones, build 10.000 km of railway network and a conventional line of 4.000 km totaling 26.000 kilometers of railway network. That means, more investments and more cooperation for railway infrastructure, railway technologies, railway vehicles, fast-train sets, switch and railway industry indicating more freedom and progress for the countries.

Mr. Yildirim mentioned that Turkey is the 6th in Europe and 8th in the world for the fast-track line railway operations. Turkey connects 3 big cities Ankara, Eskisehir and Konya to each other with high-speed trains and until 2017, this will increase to 13 which indicate 10 new cities to welcome high-speed trains.

After his speech, Mr. Yildirim walked through the stands and he delivered red carnation due to the Women’s Day on March 8th.

Bulgaria's Minister of Transport, H.E. Ivaylo Moskovski made a speech at the opening ceremony. H.E. Moskovski said that: "The Pan-Europe corridor Transportation Corridor goes through Bulgaria and this corridor is vital for Europe. The 4th, 9th, and 10th corridors are becoming important in terms of relations with Turkey for the project to be completed in 2014.”

General Manager of T.C.D.D. Süleyman Karaman mentioned: “Railway systems are being talked in universities, non-profit organizations and public bodies and in the recent years, railways have been under huge progress and development and the private sector invest a lot in projects for the railway industry and its operations.

Mr. Korhan Yazgan, Board of Director for Turkel Fair Organizations Inc. said: “The exhibition attracted around 200 exhibitors from 21 countries with double exhibition space as compared to last year, the first edition of the exhibition. The main goal is to make Eurasia Rail the second biggest railway exhibition in the world in 2 years.”
