Independent Public School Application

I am pleased to announce that at the conclusion of last yearI was informed that the school had been successful in itsapplication to become an Independent Public School. As anIPS the school will receive additional funding and support fromthe Department including access to professional development, networking and strategic development opportunities. Iwill be attending an induction program in March for all new IPSschools and look forward to getting back to the community withmore news about IPS when I have attended this session.

2017 Focus

This year we will once again be focussing our professionallearning and classroom practice in the teaching area ofnumeracy. With last year being so successful in terms ofdeveloping policy and pedagogy in this area we will be ensuringthat this work is embedded in all classrooms across the school.Representatives from each year level will again be attendingPD in numeracy over the year with a regional specialist and Iam looking forward to seeing how this focus leads to betteroutcomes for our children in mathematics.

successful over the years and we hope to enhance thesefurther with the introduction of IMPACT.

The IMPACT program will also be focussed in the areas ofmathematics and writing but is designed to deeply engagestudents in learning and boost achievement. More informationabout the IMPACT program and how it works can be found atimpact.edu.au for those parents interested.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the instruction in thisprogram which is coordinated out of Brisbane only a limitednumber of our highest performing students will be invited toattend.

I am also pleased to inform parents that we will be furtherenhancing our digital technologies and coding programsthrough a formal MAKERSPACE program being coordinatedby Carly Hinchsliff and operating out of the Arthouse. Moreinformation on this area as we get it up and running.

Cooking was full of colourful and yummy treats forChristmas break times. Outside we rode our wheels and hadoval games of soccer, tag, and footy. As the days were hot thechildren enjoyed ice blocks whilst watching a daily movie andchilling out.

We also have heaps of fun in Before and After School Care.Children are offered yummy home-made dishes such asspaghetti bolognese, home-made pizza, fried rice, bangers andmash, bacon and eggs, quiche, pancakes, tuna bake andmuch more. A fresh fruit platter is also served.

A quick coffee at Hum Drum afterwards is always on the cardsif you have the time.

Tuckshop and Uniform Shop

Uniform Shop: 8am – 10am daily from the TuckshopTuckshop: 8am – 1:30pm daily

The big change in 2017 is that the Uniform Shop has movedto the Eumunchi Café premises. Uniforms will be available 8 to10am five days a week and other times by appointment. Anadvantage for the Café will be that eftpos will now be availablefor tuckshop orders.

There is a new 2017 tuckshop menu available, with only a fewchanges from last year. Firstly, sushi has made a comeback, but in a bigger and better fashion. On Friday, we now buyfreshly-made sushi from Sakura Sushi in Noosaville. There aremany tasty combinations on offer in two sizes of packs. Sushi, however, must be ordered via the Flexischools service by 9amThursday (the day before). Other welcome additions to themenu are Frozen Sorbet in pomegranate and lemon andTwisted Frozen Yoghurt in watermelon/mango and chocolate/vanilla. Yummo!!! Rice paper rolls (hoisin chicken andvegetarian) returns for the Tuesday Special and on Wednesdaythere will be spinach and cheese parcels. All are freshly madeto order in the morning and using our garden produce, whenavailable. The very popular, butter chicken curry and rice, willbe available every day. Hot chips are no longer on the menu.

In 2016, Eumundi Bakehouse became the principal supplier ofbread and rolls for our school events and also to the Café on aregular basis. Not only is the bread and rolls soft and delicious, much of it was supplied free of charge or at a reduced rate. Thiswill continue into 2017, and hopefully, beyond. Please, supportthose who support the school.

As always, volunteers are needed for the Café and UniformShop. Even a few hours in the morning cooking cookies andcakes, making sandwiches and salads, or helping with uniformswould be great. With so much of our menu now freshly madeon the premises volunteers are vital for the Café to remainviable.
