WHAT WILL WE CHANGE?

EU-Self Project, using an innovative approach, aims to link the knowledge and practice in the field of early childhood social and emotional skills development. Nine partners from six counties work on inputs from which researchers, teachers, educators, decision making bodies, national and/or local authorities, parents, etc., can benefit.

PROJECT OUTPUTS

The project has seven main outputs:1. An innovative and Europe-wide digital platform.2. A sophisticated scientific literature analysis regarding SES

assessment, development and interventions in early and preschool children in most of the European countries (47 European countries) and oversees.

3. Identification and description of good practices in European countries and oversees.

4. Description of the educational context in the partner countries.5. Description of the practices in the partner countries (case studies). 6. Glossary of main concepts regarding SES.7. Overviews of key topics regarding SES.

WHY DO WE DO THAT?

Plenty of research and official reports show that if children are not attaining minimal social and emotional skills (SES) at around six years of age, they are likely to be at risk in the next stages of their development. Well-developed SES in children contribute to academic success, improve learning conditions, are a powerful tool for empowering children for a better future, for a happier and more productive life, but also they are an irreplaceable tool for prevention of social exclusion, aggression and bulling, school dropout, different types of risk behaviors, psychopathology, unemployment, etc.
