    INTRODUCTION

This operating manual contains instructions for operating E-tube Project.

In order to fully utilize the functions of E-tube Project, please read this manual thoroughly before use.

    Note:

l Never connect or disconnect the battery and the units after you have clicked [Next] in the unit

connection standby window. If this is not observed, it may damage the SM-PCE1 or the other units.

l Never attempt to change the contents of the firmware files or the filenames. If you do this, it will not be

possible to update the firmware correctly, and problems may occur with the units after carrying out

    firmware updates.

    n NOTE:

l When connecting the SM-PCE1 to the PC, connect it directly to the USB port of the PC, without using

an intermediate device such as a USB hub.

l Make sure that the PC does not switch into standby while you are carrying out operations such as

    updating the firmware.

If the PC switches to standby, E-Tube Project processing will be interrupted and the screen display will

    return to the main window.

l When overwriting the initial firmware, connect the units to the SM-PCE1 as stand-alone units.

l After unit recognition has occurred while the battery is connected and the screen display has returned

to the main window, momentarily disconnect the battery and then reconnect it.

l Rotate the crank arms while carrying out operations which are related to adjustment and gear shifting.

l Use the TL-EW02 special tool to install and remove the electric wires.

    ABOUT E-TUBE PROJECT

E-tube Project is an application for use in the maintenance and problem diagnosis of the various units.

The main functions are as follows.

    Functions Details

Customize This function is used to customize the gear shifting system.

    n Shifting switch function settings

This function changes the functions of the ST-6770 and SW-R600 shifting

    switches.

    n Rear derailleur adjustment settings

This function adjusts the gear shifting by the rear derailleur.

Problem diagnosis When a single unit or multiple units are connected, this function checks their

operation and identifies any units which have a problem.

However, this does not mean that all such problems can be discovered. In

addition, the function does not fix any problems which are discovered.

Update firmware This function is used to update the firmware for each unit to the latest versions.

(The firmware is downloaded via the Internet.

    Overwrite initial

    firmware

If the firmware which has been written to a unit becomes corrupted for reasons

such as the USB cable or an electric wire becoming accidentally disconnected

while updating of the firmware is in progress, the unit will not operate correctly.

This function can be used to overwrite the firmware for such units in order to

    restore normal operation.
