TRANSCRIPT
The SettingPhil’s office at Grantland University: A Large, Public
Research University in the Southeast
SCENE 1:
Ross is not doing well in his calculus class, and he would
like to change his major to psychology instead of
engineering since he is doing well and really likes his
Psych class, but he knows that his parents will not help
him pay for college if he does not stick with engineering.
Ross asks Phil to lie to his parents and tell them that his
poor marks in calculus are not a big deal and that he is still
on track, just until he figures out what to do about
changing his major.
Scene 2:
Ross leaves Phil’s office, and Phil begins to mull over
Ross’ request of deceit.
Phil thinks about the potential repercussions that could
come of him lying to parents, but then he also thinks of
Ross’ desire to stay at Grantland, and his ultimate
happiness that depends on his changing his major…
Phil falls asleep as he is thinking and awakes to find some
uninvited guests!
