that come to your mind?
Ethical Considerations

Copyright, Fair Use,
Plagiarism, & Cheating
COPYRIGHTa legal right created by the law of a country that grants
the creator of an original work exclusive rights for its use and distribution usually only for a limited time.
IP PROTECTIONS
reproduction, control over derivative
works,distribution,public performance, &"moral rights" such
as attribution
DURATION
Expires between 50 to 100 years after the
creator’s death
FAIR USE
Using less than 10% of a work for
Educational purposes is typically acceptable
LIMITATIONS
copyright protects only the original
expression of ideas, ¬ the underlying
ideas themselves
Of all the creative work produced by humans anywhere, a tiny fraction has
continuing commercial value. For that tiny fraction, the copyright is a crucially
important legal device.

Plagiarism and CheatingEthics in Online Learning Environments
Plagiarism
Copying the work of others is never acceptable, however, using proper quotes and citations in academic works is always strongly encouraged. Understanding how to properly cite sources is the key to managing this issue.
Cheating
The data shows that students self-report cheating at the same percentages face to face as they do in online environments however, there is a perception that technology is both the problem and the solution. What do you think?

DATA CONSIDERATIONSWho owns the data?
When selecting technology applications to use with students you must consider what data is collected regarding the student, where that data is housed, and who owns the data.
