Honors College Admissions Information

Applicant Qualifications

1. To be considered for the Honors College, applicants must have applied for admission to Columbus State University

2. Entering freshman applicants will be selected on the basis of SAT/ACT scores, grade point average, honors, and participation in high school and community activities.

3. Admission requirements for entering honors freshmen are:- SAT score of at least 1200 with a minimum of 550 on each subsection or an ACT

composite score of 26 - A high school academic GPA of 3.50 or higher- No College Preparatory Curriculum (CPC) deficiencies (based on state of Georgia

requirements) preventing regular admission to Columbus State University- Students not meeting these minimum requirements may be admitted provisionally, if

space is available, and are encouraged to apply.  All applications will be evaluated for scholarship opportunities that are available through the Honors College.

Application Procedures and Deadlines

1. Applications should be typed and not hand written.2. Applications will be reviewed to determine each student’s eligibility to compete for

scholarships offered through the Honors College. Students who wish to be considered for the Presidential Scholarship must have applied to the Honors College by January 15th. Students who apply to the Honors College by March 1st will be given consideration for an interview for Tower and University Scholarships. Students will be notified of their eligibility to compete for scholarships, and additional information will be requested at that time.

3. To receive full benefits of the Honors College, including Priority Registration and Honors Housing, students should apply to the Honors College by March 31st. Students desiring Honors Housing, which is a specialized Living/Learning Community, must indicate this preference by selecting the Honors Living/Learning Community on their housing application available through the “My Housing Portal” link on the Residence Life webpage.

4. Students will be admitted to the Honors College through September 1st for the fall semester. Students will not be fully admitted to the Honors College until CSU has received official final high school transcripts, standardized and AP Test Scores. These documents are collected routinely by the CSU Admissions Office and do not need to be submitted separately to the Honors College. However, you may include unofficial copies to the Honors College to expedite our admission process.
