Eternal Life (ZOE) The God-Kind of Life
Eternal Life: What it is, what it gives and what it does.
The problem with man is spiritual death (THANATOS: man’s
spiritual condition). We find in Genesis 2:17, Romans 5:12 and
Ephesians 2:2-3 that death spread to all men. Death does not mean
non-existence. Death is the spiritual nature of satan. It is the nature
of wrath man received through Adam.
Eternal Life (ZOE) is the life and nature of God, as found in
John 1:4, John 5:26, Ephesians 4:17-18 and Revelation 22:1. Man is
a spirit being in the same class of beings as God and angels
(including satan). Therefore, man can partake of this kind of life.
This is found in Genesis 1:27, Romans 8:29, I John 3:15, I
Thessalonians 5:23, I Peter 3:4 and II Corinthians 4:16.
The Inward Man Is The Real You
The purpose of Jesus’ coming was to create a new people with
this life (ZOE) in their spirit. We see this in John 10:10, John 5:40,
John 20:30-31, John 5:24, I John 4:9 and I John 1:1. Whosoever
receives Jesus Christ is born again and receives ZOE-Life (I John
5:11-12, I John 3:14, Romans 8:2-10, John 1:12-13 and John 3:6).
The Christian is born of God in spirit!
Eternal life does countless things for the believer. We are
going to look at eight main things eternal life does in and for the
recipient. These eight main truths will redefine Christianity once
understood. God has made us invincible champions through the
work of His Son!
4
The 8 Main Things Eternal Life Does:
1. Eternal life (ZOE) makes us new beings/a new species. In
other words, Eternal life makes us God-men! Your old self
has disappeared!
(II Corinthians 5:17, Romans 8:29, Galatians 6:15, Ephesians 2:15 and
Romans 6:6)
2. Eternal life (ZOE) makes us one with Christ.
(John 15:5, John 6:56, I Corinthians 6:17, Colossians 1:27)
3. Eternal life (ZOE) delivers us from satan’s dominion.
(Colossians 1:13, Romans 8:2, I John 5:18, Ephesians 2:6, John 5:24,
John 8:12, Acts 26:18)
4. Eternal life (ZOE) makes us more than conquerors.
(Romans 8:37, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 2:6, Colossians 2:9-10)
5. Eternal life (ZOE) gives us God’s ability.
(Philippians 4:13, Galatians 2:20, II Corinthians 13:4, John 14:10)
6. Eternal life (ZOE) causes us to always be victorious.
(John 1:4-5, II Corinthians 2:14, I John 5:4)
7. Eternal life (ZOE), when received in sufficient measure,
causes one to walk in divine health.
(Romans 8:11, John 7:38, Romans 5:10 (saved = SOZO), Romans 8:2,
Galatians 6:8, Ephesians 5:30)
8. You can have more or less of this life in your soul and body.
When eternal life (ZOE) is received in sufficient measure it
will live its’ own self out in you just like it did in Jesus.
(John 14:10, John 5:17)

Eternal Life Meditation Manual
Matthew 7:14
“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there be that find it.” – KJ
Matthew 18:8-9
“Wherefore if thy hand of thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and
cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or
maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into
everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and
cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one
eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.” – KJ
Matthew 19:16
“And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what
good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” - KJ
…in order to get spiritual life… - CP
John 1:4
“In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.” – KJ
…Eternal life is in Him, and this life gives light…brought light to
mankind. – LAU
…Eternally energizing in this – being life was-essential, and the Life
was essentially the light of human kind. – CRICK
John 3:3-6
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of
God. Nicodemus saith unto him. How can a man be born when
he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb,
6
and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily I say unto thee,
except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter
into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is
flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” – KJ
…“I want to make it clear,” Jesus answered, “that no one can be a
member of God’s family unless he is fathered from above… - CP
…unless a man is begotten from above, he can have no experience
of the Dominion of God.” – WADE
…born over again from above. – GSPD
…no one can see God’s realm unless he is born from above. –
MOFF
…reborn from above. – NOLI
…a person’s body is born from his human parents, but a person’s
spiritual life is born from the Spirit. – DEAF
…flesh father’s flesh, and Spirit fathers spirit.” – CP
…men can only reproduce human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new
life from heaven. – LAU
John 3:14-16
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so
must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved.” – KJ
7
John 3:36
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that
believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him.” – KJ
Whosoever trust…possesses eternal life. – WMS
When one lives by the Son, one has spiritual life… – CP
John 4:14
“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall
never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a
well of water springing up into everlasting life.” – KJ
…the water that I will give him shall become a spring welling up
within him – a source of enduring life. – 20C
…the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life.
– BASIC
…an inner-flowing spring, bubbling over with spiritual life. – CP
…a perpetual spring within them, watering them forever with
eternal life. – LB
…the water that I will give him will become a spring of water that
keeps on bubbling (leaping) up within him for eternal life. – WMS
John 4:36
“And he that reapeth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life
eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may
rejoice together.” – KJ
The man who reaps the harvest is being paid and gathers the crops
for eternal life; so the man who plants and the man who reaps
harvest is being paid and gathers the crops for eternal life. – GN
Already the Harvester is hired and is gathering spiritual life fruit, so
that the Planter and the Harvester may rejoice together. – CP
8
John 5:24
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall
not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto
life.” – KJ
…he already has eternal life, he is no longer on the way to
judgment; he has already crossed the boundary between death and
life. – BAR
…has spiritual life…has transferred form the death region to the life
region. – CP
…having enduring life…have already passed out of Death into Life.
– 20C
…enjoys eternal life…he has passed over already from death to life.
– KNOX
…had Eternal life…has already passed over from spiritual Death to
spiritual life. – WADE
…has (possesses now) eternal life…he has already passed over out
of death into life. – AMP
He has already left death and has entered life. – DEAF
John 5:26
“For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the
Son to have life in Himself.” - KJ
For the Father, being as He is the source of Life, has made the son
the source of life. – RIEU
For as the Father is a life-bearer, so he has made the Son a life
bearer. – CP
For, just as the Father has inherent Life within him, so also he
9
granted to the Son to have inherent Life within within himself. –
20C
For just as the Father has life within himself, so he has given his Son
life, that he too may have it within himself. – 20CR
John 5:39-40
“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to
me, that ye might have life.” – KJ
You pore over the Scriptures for you imagine that you will find
eternal life in them, and all the time they give their testimony to me!
But you are not willing to come to me to have real life! – PHI
You do study the Bible, expecting to find spiritual life in it, and all
the while it is located with evidence about me. – CP
John 6:33
“For the bread of God is He which cometh from heaven, and
giveth life unto the world.” – KJ
John 6:35
“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life; he that
cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me
shall never thirst.” – KJ
…I myself am the Life-giving Bread… - 20C
…It is I that am the Life-sustaining Bread… - WADE
…I am the bread that gives life… - WMS
John 6:40
“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which
seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
and I will raise him up at the last day.” – KJ
10
It is also my Father’s desire that everyone who really looks at the
Son and takes the leap with him should have spiritual life, and I
myself will make him new in the final hour. – CP
John 6:47
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath
everlasting life.” – KJ
…He who lives his faith has spiritual life. – CP
John 6:48
“I am that bread of life.” – KJ
…the ‘loaf’ of the life. – CP
John 6:51
“I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any
man eat of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread that I
will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” –
KJ
It is I who am the Living and Life—imparting Bread that descended
out of Heaven…and the Bread which I shall give is my flesh, given
to sustain the Life of the world. - WADE
The bread which I give, to bring the world to Life, is my flesh. –
RIEU
John 6:53-57
“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you;
Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye
have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my
blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He
that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and
11
I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the
Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.” – KJ
…unless you eat the flesh of the Man of glory and drink His blood,
you cannot have eternal life within you. – LAU
…you’ll have no inner life…has spiritual life. – CP
…has (possesses now) eternal life… - AMP
…enjoys eternal life. – KNOX
…He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union
with me and I in union with him. – WADE
…The man who eats my body and drinks my blood shares my life
and I share his. – PHI
…Whoever continues to eat my flesh and drink my blood continues
to live in union with me and I in union with him. – WMS
…As I, who am sent by the Living Father, myself draw life from the
Father, so whoever eats me will draw life from me. – JERU
…As the living Father sent me, and I have life because of the Father,
so he that eats me shall have life because of me. – PEB
John 6:63
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the
words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” –
KJ
It is the Spirit that creates true life; mere flesh is of no avail. The
Words that I have spoken unto you are Spiritual in their meaning,
and Life-giving in their effects. – WADE
The Words that I have spoken to you are spirit and they bring life. –
LOVETT

John 6:68
“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go?
Thou hast the words of eternal life.” – KJ
…Your teachings tell us of the Life of the Ages. – WEY
…the words of spiritual life… - CP
…You have at your command words that impart Eternal Life. –
WADE
…You alone have the words that give eternal life. – LAU
John 7:38
“He that believeth on me, as the scriptures hath said, out of his
belly shall flow rivers of living water.” – KJ
…Out of his innermost being…shall flow (continuously)… - AMP
From the heart of the man who lives, my life will flow, as the Bible
says, floods of life-giving water. – CP
…from his interior streams of living water will flow… - AUTH
…from his breast will flow streams of life-imparting water. –
WADE
…streams of life-giving water will pour out from his heart. – GN
…rivers out-from his inward parts shall be flowing of water, all
alive, as it is. – CRICK
John 8:12
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the
world; and he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but
shall have the light of life.” – KJ
…He who follows me will never have to pursue his course in
spiritual darkness, but will have the light that proceeds from him
who is the Life – WADE
13
…he that-is-following Me, shall be-kept-from evertransacting-daily-
life-affairs in the Darkness, but-so far from that shall-be-in-
possession-of the Light of-The-Life. – CRICK
My follower shall not walk around in darkness, but has the light of
Life. – BERK
John 10:10
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.” – KJ
I, on the contrary, have come that they might have life, and have it
in fullest measure… - WADE
I have come for people to have life, and have it until it overflows. –
WMS
…that men may have life, and have it in overflowing measure. –
TNT
I alone came in order that they might be possessing life, and that
they might be possessing it in super abundance. – WUEST
…and ever more and more possessing. – CRICK
…I came so that they will have life and have it overflowing in them.
– BECK
John 10:28
“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” – KJ
Though he should die, will come to life… - NAB
I am myself that day and that life; he who has faith in me will have
life even if he is dead, and no one who is living and has faith in me
will ever see death. – BASIC
14
John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – KJ
…I am the real and living way. – MOFF
…No one can come to the Father except through me. – WMS
John 14:19-20
“…Yet, a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye
see me; because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall
know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” – KJ
…because I have life and you too shall have live. – RIEU
…because I am in possession of Life, you will possess it also…In
that day you will come to know that I am united to the Father, and
you are united to me, and I am united to you. – WADE
…I am in union with my Father, and you are in union with me and I
am in union with you. – WMS
John 15:4-5
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by
itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide
in me. I am the Vine and ye are the branches. He that abideth
in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for
without me ye can do nothing.” – KJ
…Get your life from Me and I will live in you. No branch can give
fruit itself. It has to get life from the vine. You are able to give fruit
only when you have life from me. I am the vine and you are the
branches. Get your life from me. – NL
You must go on growing in me and I will grow in you. For just as
the branch cannot bear any fruit unless it shares the life of the vine,
15
so you can produce nothing unless you go on growing in me. I am
the vine itself; you are the branches. It is the man who shares my
life and whose life I share who proves fruitful. For the plain fact is
that apart from me you can do nothing at all. – PHI
Whoever remains in union with me and I in union with him will bear
abundant fruit, because you cannot do anything cut off from union
with me. – WMS
John 17:2-3
“As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give
eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is the
life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and
Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” – KJ
…Thou hast made him sovereign over all mankind to know thee
who alone art truly God. – NEB
John 20:31
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life
through his name.” – KJ
All of this has been written down so that you can trust Jesus as the
Promised One, the Christ, God’s own Son. And so that – by trusting
him, personally you can have real life with God, starting here and
now, and going on…forever! – AUSSIE
…so that you believe Jesus is the promised Savior… - BECK
…that Jesus is the …Anointed One. – AMP
…having this faith, you may have life. – BASIC
16
Acts 3:15
“And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the
dead, whereof we are witnesses.” – KJ
…the Lord of Life… - NORLIE
…the Lord and Giver of life. – BECK
…you killed the man who blazed the way that leads to life… - BAR
…The Fountain-Lord of-The Life… - CRICK
Acts 5:20
“Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of
this life.” – KJ
…tell the people all you have to say about the new life. – 20C
…Continue proclaiming all the message of life. – WEY
…the whole message of this life. – NASB
Colossians 2:13
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of
your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having
forgiven you all trespasses.” – KJ
You, who were spiritually dead because of your sins and
uncircumcision (that is, the fact that you were outside the law), God
has made to share in the very life of Christ! – PHI
…you God thrilled with that same new life of Jesus. – WAY
…to you God gave Life in giving Life of Christ. – 20C
…he co-quickened you with him… - MAR
…he jointly made you alive together with him… - RHM
17
Romans 5:10
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by
the death of his son; much more, being reconciled, we shall be
saved by his life.” – KJ
For if, while we were rebels we were won over to God though his
Son’s death how much more, having been won over, shall we be
saved in his life. – CP
…reconciled to him, we are surer than ever of finding salvation in
his son’s life. – KNOX
…we shall be saved (daily delivered from sin’s dominion) through
His resurrection life. – AMP
…shall we be saved by virtue of Christ’s life. – 20C
…being already reconciled, shall we be saved by sharing in his life.
– CONY
…by His life in us. – NORLIE
Romans 5:17
“For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more
they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of
righteousness shall reign in life, by one, Jesus Christ.” – KJ
For if, through the transgression of the one individual, Death made
us of the one individual to seize the sovereignty, all the more shall
those who receive God’s over flowing grace and gift of
righteousness reign as kings in the Life through the one individual,
Jesus Christ. – WEY
In consequence of that single first transgression, death became king
of men’s lives, through the one man’s demerit, all this will be far
more than compensated when those who receive the measureless
wealth of God’s grace and God’s gift of righteousness shall be kings
in the New Life, through the merit of the One, Jesus… – WAY
18
If one man by his sin made death a king, we, on whom God has
poured His love and His gift of righteousness, we are all the more
certain the one Jesus Christ makes us live and be kings. – BECK
That one man, Adam, when he sinned, put all men under the rule of
death. But that other man, Jesus Christ, makes men right with God
so that they shall live and rule like kings. This He does for all who
accept God’s rich forgiving love and His free gift. – LAU
For if, due to that one person’s fall, death is king through that
person, for more surely shall those, who receive the overflowing of
grace and the gift of righteousness, reign as kings in the life they
enjoy through the One, Jesus Christ. – BERK
If, by reason of one man’s fall, death exercised dominion through
that one man’s agency, much more will those who receive the
abundance of God’s grace and His free gift of righteousness reign
triumphantly in life through the one man Jesus Christ. – BRUCE
Romans 5:18
“Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men
to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free
gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” – KJ
Therefore, on the account of the offence of one, condemnation was
to all men, so on account of the righteousness of one, will the
victory unto life be to all men. – SYRIAC
Therefore, it seems, just as through a single transgression the
consequences extended to all men, resulting in a sentence of Doom
upon them, so through a single act of righteousness the
consequences have extended to all men, resulting in God’s setting
them right with Himself, and bestowing upon them life. – WADE
So then, as the one sin condemned all mankind, in the same way the
one righteous act sets all mankind free and gives them life. – GN
19
Romans 5:21
“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign
through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our
Lord.” – KJ
As sin was king in the death realm, so might grace, through
restoration to favor, be king in the spiritual life realm provided by
Jesus Christ our Lord. – CP
As sin established its reign by way of death, so God’s grace might
establish its reign in righteousness, and issue in eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord. – NEB
Sin used to be the master of men and in the end handed them over to
death – now grace is the ruling factor, with righteousness as its
purpose and its end the bringing of men to the eternal life of God
through Jesus Christ our Lord. – PHI
So just when sin and death seemed to be the reigning powers grace
took possession of the throne, and that by means of a righteousness
that opened the way to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. –
WAND
God’s purpose in this was that, as sin had dominated the situation
with death as its inevitable sequel, so grace should dominate the
situation, and do so righteously, with eternal life as its goal, through
Jesus Christ our Lord. – BRUCE
Romans 6:4
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death; that
like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” – KJ
Our baptism in his death made us share his burial, so that, as Christ
was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might
live and move in the new sphere of Life. – MOFF
20
Your old sin-loving nature was buried with Him by baptism when
He died, and when God the Father with glorious power, brought
Him back to life again, you were given His wonderful new life to
enjoy. – LAU
We share HIS death through our baptismal immersion, were with
Him laid in the grave, in order that, as Christ was raised to life from
among the dead, through His Father’s glorious Power, we, too,
might pursue our course in the possession of fresh life. – WADE
…thus also we by means of a new life imparted may order our
behaviour. – WUESTS
…so we might (be raised from a life of sin now dead and buried
and) have our being in a new realm of life. – HUDSON
…may regulate our conduct by a new principle, life. – RUTH
Romans 6:5
“If we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, so
we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.” – KJ
For if we have grown into fellowship with Him by sharing a death
like His, surely we shall share a resurrection life like this. – WMS
For you have become a part of him, and so you died with him, so to
speak, when he died; and now you share his new life, and shall rise
as he did. – LAU
For as we have been fellow plants in the garden of his death, we
shall also be fellow plants in the garden of his risen life. – CP
Since we have participated in his death, we will also participate in
the new life his resurrection releases. – JOHN
21
Romans 6:8
“Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live
with him.” – KJ
Well, if we have died along with Messiah (and have so been
accounted righteous, we have a right to believe that we shall also
share His new Life) – WAY
And our belief is, that, as we have shared Christ’s death we shall
also share his life. – 20C
Now if we have shared the death of Christ, we believe that we shall
also share His life. – CONY
Romans 6:10,11
“For in that he died, he died unto sin once, but in that he liveth,
he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be
dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” – KJ
In respect of His death, He passed by dying, once for all, out of the
sphere of sin; but, in respect of His new life, He is living in relation
to God. In the same manner you also are to account yourselves to
be, in relation to sin, dead men; but in relation to God, living men,
whose life absorbed in the life of the Messiah, Jesus. – WAY
Think of yourselves as dead to the power of sin; but now you have
new life because of Jesus Christ our Lord… - NL
Christ’s Risen Life is eternal—that is, not merely endless, but
supernatural, heavenly. Our Christian life, which began as we rose
up form the Baptismal water, has something of the eternal quality.
Christ died, and, by His dying and rising, conquered death. It has no
longer any hold on Him. He died a mortal death. That death broke
the power of sin. We need not stand now sword in hand, fighting
against evil. There is now no pressure upon Him from that quarter.
He has won the victory forever, and His life is wholly godward.
22
And the union in Life we are not divided—of baptized person with
Christ is such that they too have a resurrection-life. …His life is a
Risen Life. So, in its measure, is theirs… - CARP
Romans 7:10
“And the commandment which was ordained to life, I found to
be unto death.” – KJ
The very commandment ordained to bring me spiritual life in my
case proved the cause of spiritual death. – GREBER
Romans 8:2
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me
free from the law of sin and death.” – KJ
Through your union with Christ Jesus, the law of the life-giving
spirit has set you free from the law of sin and death. – 20C
For the spirit’s law of new life in Christ Jesus released you from the
claims of the law of sin and destruction. – CP
For the law of the spirit, the source of life, made me free in my
union with Christ Jesus, from the law of sin and in its shadow,
death. – GEIKIE
The spiritual principle of life has set me free, in Jesus Christ, from
the principle of sin and death. – KNOX
For the principle of spiritual life in Christ Jesus has liberated me
from the principle of sin and death. – TNT
